Just about to kick off on Channel 7...thank god I'm on my third coffee of the day, been up since 6:40...not expecting this one to be competitive but I do enjoy watching Wanheng, very under-rated (though he does allow that with his bloody awful competition).

Odaira is best known for losing to Katsunari Takayama on the Rigondeaux Vs Amagasa card. Speedy kid but lacks fire power and, of course, is in Thailand

...5 minutes later and the introductions are still going on...
...I might have had grand kids by the time this is done

We get the anthems...and THEN cut to adverts, said it before but this is a brilliant tactic to unsettle visitors. Odaira will have been in the ring for 20 minutes before the first bell....

    Finally we're.....off!

Note-Odaira's manager is Susumu Hanagata, who lost to Chartchai Chionoi in Thailand...then beat him in Japan for a Flyweight title

    Round 1-
Patient stalking from Wanheng sees him pretty much give the round away to the busier Odaira, but with this being Thailand and with Wanheng landing a few solid shots late it could have gone to the home man. Odaira's speed is really a delight but his total lack of power and strength will cost him here in the second half.

    10-9 Odaira.

    Round 2-
More of the same, conservative pressure from Wanheng, the crowd cheering when he throws singles, albeit the better shots, whilst Odaira out lands him with feather fisted shots. I'd go 2-0 Odaira but know what the judges are thinking

    Round 3-
Wanheng moves in to second gear and drops Odaira, the Japanese fighter is then under immense pressure and struggles to fight off Wanheng who has finally began to let his hands go. Give this 3 more rounds MAX.

    28-28

    Round 4-
Wanheng bullies Odaira with his pressure but doesn't land much until relatively late when a powerful straigth gets through, Odaira was rocked but recovered well. Odaira's movement at times is wonderful but he's not got the power to make Wanheng respect him.

    38-37 Wanheng

    Open scoring has it 40-35, 39-36, 39-36

    Round 5-
Wanheng again piles on the pressure and unloads a nasty series of right hand after hurting Odaira, Odaira turns his back and takes a rabbit shot due to his mistake. Ref waves it off immediately after Odaira goes down. No real issue with the stoppage, and Odaira congratulated Wanheng immediately. The final shot was a little unnecessary, but Odaira was going ...going...

    TKO 5 Wanheng

I have a feeling he liked getting rounds under his belt, now he's fully rounded he doesn't mind going for the stoppage. Very under-rated power and a great pressure style that must be exhausting for opponents.

I had to be up early for court today or would've checked this out.
