If the computer could some how mimic the movements of the fighters, timing, speed, and tendencies, I suppose I could accept the outcome as good fiction. Boxing relies on too many intangibles for a computer and its 1's and 0's / off and on logic to understand. I also think marketing people for the movies would tilt toward certain outcomes. There is a computer game on the market that runs these type of matches. The trouble is, you have to go on the given data.
my one question is how sensative would the reffs be old timers wouldnt far as well with modorn reffs due to them being quicker to stop fight than they where many years ago
Take out the NC rule. We need to give guys like Dempsey and McGoven a chance. IE standed over there foes. Also make em 45 round fights so we know Willard will have a shot.
I heed your points John and I tell you what, I'll forget the pessimism and be one of the first in line, popcorn in hand.
As entertainment it would be great. But people have to udnerstand what they're watching. If Ali fights Carnera there is always that 1 in a million chance that Carnera wins. if the computer sim shows this then people will feel cheated. But if you don't show this then why bother even doing a sim? Secondly, modern fighters are bigger money makers than dead guys. There's more business in Wlad winning a tournament or a bout than Jeffries. The modern media always want the current fighters (singers, actors, footballers, etc) to be the greatest ever because they are still making them money. Once a media company gets involved it would be almost impossible to stop them compromising what you have. Title Bout board game and computer game are great fun. And they are researched pretty well... I was addicted to this as a kid and would probably love this as a spectacle.
