This sounds like good advice guys, I was thinking of trying it but I cannot get over the fact that it will take a year just to get to the point that your not dominated.
I started straight up with MMA and nogi grappling. I got smashed for a good 8-12 months, everyone I trained with were 90kg+ and I was only like 70. By the time I put a gi on I was already pretty decent and after about 3 months of gi training I was tapping the guys that used to smash me in nogi. But then I'd roll with a guy with more experience than me and I'd get destroyed. Or I'd have a particularly bad day or bad week and I'd get molested every night. You'll have light bulb moments where one day everything just clicks and you notice huge improvements in your game, and then you plateau for a few months, making little to no gains before you make your next big leap. You just gotta keep going. Don't worry too much about how long it's going to take to get good, especially at any particular position or situation. You'll find out very quickly if it's meant for you or not, and if it is meant for you then just keep training and one day you'll realise that you're actually pretty good
Yeah i guess so brah. His CV looks pretty awesome to be fair... Do you live in Manchester then? Lynchburg
Hey Lynchburg, How long would you think it would take me to get a purple belt, then brown & then finally a black belt when because of my work I will only be able to take lessons once a week, I'm thinking of getting private lessons.
To be honest dude i wouldn't even think like that and if i gave you an answer it would just be misleading as you may be very good naturally or you may be not very good... With lessons once a week and a one on one evry fortnight or so you should be able to get This content is protected within 2 to 4 years and then another 2 to 4 for This content is protected . Lynchburg
How good are you supposed to be at blue belt? i recently got mine and sometimes i feel i dont deserve it.
You should have a very high knowledge of BJJ and have an array of escapes, defences and attacks that you can use in a whole host of positions. Lynchburg
I train with Steve Campbell he's very very good very technical he's got many students from White to brown, I'm currently not training cos of injures but can't wait to get back!
i dont know why you people are listening to this guy i will submit this guy in 2 seconds. come to melbourne australia, to my gym kimekai i weigh 165lbs and would submit u anyday.
To the guys that have been training BJJ or even judo, where do you guys buy your gi? Any reasonably cheap places to get them?
