So bassically there isnt a track for me to run at but i found a straight narrow path down my home. Eventually there is a downhill pathway quite steep i was thinking of sprinting 100 yards. Would this be good? so far this is my first real time only putting effort into sprints. Before id run a mile and a half then sprint up the hill once and continue jogging without any rest because of how sore my legs would get and how tired i would get then run the last mile and a half back. Im not sure how many times i should sprint up this hill or how long of a rest i should take but i want some opinions. I was thinking my schedual would be like this Monday - Hill Sprints Tuesday - 3 mile jog Weds - Hill Sprints Thurs - 3 mile jog Saturday - 3 mile Run appreciate any help
If you've not really done hill sprints before I personally wouldn't be going for the jogs on Tues and Thurs. Hill sprints are pretty severe and you'll need time to recover. Try if for a week or two and see how you go. If the jogs help you recover then great, if not, I'd dump them. As far as the sprints themselves, for your first time out just have a rough distance measured (anywhere between 60-100 metres) and sprint up and walk/light jog down. Have a goal for how many you want to achieve (8-10) and just do it. Don't even bother timing it the first time, just take as much rest as you need to complete your next sprint. Later on start taking a timer down, and measure your progress however you want, I pretty much just time my whole work out and aim to beat it each time out. Or set a time limit and get as many sprints in as you can.
for me its hill sprints & thats it ,,,if you want to box 3 rounds find a hill you struggle with from bottom to top without stopping ,,, always walk down the hill to recover once the hill gets easer mix it up abit do little sprints between cars etc only run the hill 3 times maximum just do more intense times have a plan of attacking the hill before you step out the door i would suggest go hill running every other day
Where abouts do u go in Notts? Douglas avenue in Bakersfield is a good one. I prefer to run on grass now though, had a knee injury.
