How anyone can look at this muther****er, and not see how he uses his boxing SKILLS to set his opponent up is beyond me. Pure boxing skill is what allowed him to catch Cuevas. After that it was all over. Just because he had power, and MAD KILLER instinct doesn't mean he was just a slugger. [yt]s0lrOE_9FcM[/yt]
They were much more than "just sluggers"! That's just a myth. Both were highly skilled boxers, especially Duran.
Most of the above mentioned where skilled but much of them where in the brawl type and aggressive fighters, a slik defensive fighter like Calderon, Floyd, Hopkins, Jones, Whittaker are very rare see them into wars, Whittaker sometimes got into exchanges and put excitement. But I do not remember one in my mind right now.
maybe not most textbook but good, skilled and very able. quartey-oscar azumah-fenech II cotto-clottey brown-pettway davis-breland
Morales - MAB I & III Marquez - Vasquez trilogy Marquez - Pac II Marquez - MAB Toney - McCallum Leonard - Duran Oh, and calling Duran and Hagler "sluggers" is absurd.
great action fights fought at avery high skill level you have to watch joe calzaghe vs. mikkel kessler paul williams vs. sergio martinez jermain taylor vs. winky wright or you can watch these action fights fought at a moderately high skill level carl froch vs. jean pascal tomasz adamek vs. steve cunningham
jmm-pac2 was a great chess match with great tactics employed. you can see the eagerness of both fighters to engage but at the same time knew that each one is gonna pay dearly if they made mistake. look at how they sized-up each other from the first up to the final rounds. also both fighters display good defense. will go down as a classic and if not for vazquez-marquez, could be the fight of the year for 2008.
