One more thing, to return to the topic: What i wanted to see was a fight between two who one would put in the category of a pure boxer. Not Duran, not Hagler, perhaps not even Leonard as he was a very offensive fighter.

Two guys who liked to fight on the backfoot, did for the most part, had a great defense and liked to counterpunch. The thing is; did one of these Mayweather-Genaro type fights ever develop into a true war? The kind of fight where both threw plans of counterpunching out the window and get caught up in wars. Did this happen?

And once more: I never meant to dispute the skill of Duran, Hagler nor any other fighter.

Hagler spent most of his fights boxing while using lateral movement, circling the ring, using his jab and long arms to control the distance, and opening up with combinations.

Duran was more inclined to apply pressure and come forward than Hagler.

I never said the opposite. Hagler did fight coming forward in most of his bigger fights though against guys categorised as either (Hearns, Leonard).

This. It annoys me when people say Barrera and Morales were brawlers.

Also, say i actually meant it like i wrote it, would you want to tell any boxing fan who isn't the "expert" you apparently are, to quit watching boxing? Aren't we trying to attract more fans?

Hagler was not a slugger...you need to see more of his earlier fights. Hagler, was very well rounded and as he aged became the slugger.

But you are right being a slugger is not a bad thing.

Read above. I would classify him as either. What i was looking for was pure boxers.

I understand what you meant its just that Hagler was one of the hardest working fighters ever. If Floyd was more like him that would be scary. He was highly skilled and dedicated to developing his skills and as he aged he began to rely more on his power and chin. Shane Mosley is doing the same thing.

ironically the opposite happened in the Chiquita Gonzalez Carbajal rematch....everyone expected war and instead Gonzalez simply out boxed Carbajal
