Calzaghe fought Manfredo so dont knock him - Peter was the second Tyson.

Dawson is good, but with him at the top light heavy has become dreary. Props to Pascal and Diaconu fr bringing some life to the weight. Chad Dawso has skills but he is at risk of becoming one of the most boring, least charismatic ppl in boxing. Hopefully he can look better vs Glen Johnson this time.

Disgree with this. Dawson must be patient. There are young talents like Cloud and Shumenov on the way up. It is vs the young, exciting fighters that Dawson will define himself. Pascal has just become another option, winning a war before a big crowd. What an event Dawson-Pascal would be, for instance, in Canada.

Dawson can't get the Hopkins and Calzaghe fights. Obviously Pavlik was schooled by Hopkins so that exciting option is dead. Dawson was not great v Johnson and he stank a bit in Tarver rematch. Bring on the young guns & fresh faces. Dawson has HBO in his corner so hopefulyl there will be money for these fights, when they matter.

168 is crowding - talented/tough champs (Froch, Balzsay, Bute, Kessler) & contenders/prospects (Ward, Dirrell, Green), ex champs (Inkin), tough nuts (Bika, Andrade). If 160-pounders Pavlik and Abraham move up as well...hard for Dawson to get a look in...Chad's energy not great in the Tarver fights, losing 7 pounds might be a drain on him.

it was a major event, was contested by 2 fierce world class guys who put on a show. it's the kind of event that chad dawson could never command on his own steam. chad is excellent but he's losing fans - not that he had many in the first place - and pascal's win has just given dawson a lucrative fight option.

dawson is definitely better skill-wise that pascal and diaconu. however, when has dawson ever given 12 rounds of sustained action?

believe it or not, dawson needs guys like this. he needs to fight in a big event and pascal - who has raised his stature - would be just right.

I didn't say Dawson was bad. I made sure to admit he was an excellent fighter.

Dawson had a good fight with Johnson, mainly due to Johnson's effort. If Johnson had SUSTAINED, Dawson may have been out of there. Chad escaped with the decision, just about deserved it, took a long time to consider having a rematch...and Glen emerged with almost all the credit.

Hoping to see Dawson do a lot better this time.

For me Dawson's best win is Adamek, who went on to be cruiser king. Dawson will hit top form again vs the likes of Cloud, Shumenov (when ready), Pascal. He needs exciting rivalries and forget about Hopkins/Calzaghe, cos Dawson is not a draw.

Cloud vs Dawson would be a fight I'd love to see, but I'm dumbfounded as to why Cloud's team refused to fight on HBO to set that fight up. HBO was prepared to co-feature Cloud on a card and then show Cloud-Dawson. Team Cloud really left Chad no option there.

Shumenov's the X factor in the division- I hear he's still targeting Erdei, so let's keep our fingers crossed and hope he lands the fight and gets the job done. :thumbsup

What an evening last night gentlemen. Pascal turned in a true virtuoso performance. Glad I got my bet in before the website tightend the odds. A fight beteween him and Chad Dawson would be most apporpriate after Chad beats Glen again by decision. It should be at the Bell Centre, it would be a huge deal in Montreal and I'd be there. Gutsy performance by my buddy Delray Raines against Mean J. Greene as well. Went the distance and looked good.
