No he hasn't. He would win if they ever fought though. Martinez at 168 would be career suicide. Far too small.

I don't think he has. Sergio beat a p4p rated fighter in Williams, Ward hasn't done that. Besides, Ward is still fairly green with a lot fewer fights than Martinez, that counts for something too.

over sergio definitely, based that on level of opposition and their resumes along with them. On nonito, yeah i guess ward is up by a hair. Montiel is a great fighter with a decorated resume. But the win over Froch who was also in my top 10 before definitely puts him above.

I can potentially see as high at #5. I still have him at #7. Froch and Kessler are good wins, but overall, his resume just doesn't match up to the six guys I have ahead of him (May, Pac, Marquez, Donaire, Martinez, Wlad). I can see a solid argument for him to be ahead of Wlad, as his best two wins are better than Wlad's, but they're not better than the best two recent top fights of the other five, and Ward doesn't really have that many good wins beyond those two. I mean, Green and Bika are on the same level as the wins people keep giving Bute **** about.

Well if you diminish wards win against AA then you have to diminish Sergio's win against pavlik as he was previously beaten worse than AA, cintron is some bull**** no way you can consider Kermit valid and he also lost one against PW, if your great your great, I'm sure Sergio could beat some 168lbers just not ward and a few others, and i give ward a great chance to be a lhw champion...

That doesn't make it bad logic, though. Williams was ranked highly by the Ring and almost all other professional experts and Martinez knocked him out. It's always easy to say after the fact that a fighter was always overrated, but the truth is most people picked Williams to beat Martinez the second time.

But you are forgetting that Pavlik is quite a lot bigger than Martinez who went up in weight to beat him. Williams was p4p ranked by the Ring and many others and is also much bigger than Sergio. Martinez also has 48 wins - almost twice as many as Ward and I rate his win over Dzinziruk as well. Now, Ward may surpass him at some point, but he needs to defend the title he just won against some quality opposition first.

Williams was like number 3/4 p4p at the time. I had him 3.
You can say he's overrated, but at the time he was a beast at 154 and had wins over Sergio, Cintron, Winky, Margarito(plastered), and Quitana

Exactly. Beating the 4 pfp rated fighter is an impressive accomplishment - especially if he is the bigger man. You can't just reverse engineer events to make the win meaningless.

ya I feel you. Before the fight it's about how Paul Williams is a beast and then afterward it's how Paul was never that good in the first place :-(

well who should have been ranked ahead of him?
Floyd, Pac, MAYBE Marquez (he only had 1 win since the Mayweather blowout)

Anybody who has JMM below Martinez is a freaking idiot!
Juan Manuel Marquez should be either number 2 or 3 on any pound for pound list!

I could live with Ward either at number 4, 5 or 6.

Get the front three right! There is no place for Martinez, Ward, or Donaire in top three.

    1. Mayweather
    2. Pacman
    3. Marquez

This is probably how it should be!
    or
    1. Mayweather
    2. Marquez
    3. Pacman

    or
    1. Pacman
    2. Mayweather
    3. Marquez
