If by "no need to rush" he means by early 2017, than I see no problem with that. He's been fighting intermittently for almost 4 years now. Hopefully the knee swelling subsides and his first fight in this HBO deal starts by this Jan/Feb.

I don't like the fact he used May-Pac as an example because that fight took about 5 years to materialize. Fighters should never use them as the template since those 2 guys are very unique/exceptional in regards to their PPV drawing power.

Regardless, I definitely see Ward challenging him by early 2017 as long as both men don't lose along the way.

This is with HBO though, are you saying he'd rather fight on BET? Also if he doesn't intend to fight Kovalev, why continue fighting? Kovalev has all the belts, and Stevenson is with Al Haymon and fights on PBC.

One fighter ran to a rival network in Showtime and signd with Haymon who stopped doing business with HBO thus preventing a fight with Kovalev.

The other fighter Ward has moved up to 175, signed a contract with HBO that ends with a fight against Kovalev.

Who's the coward again??

 

Finally someone understands, Ward just needs to learn not to give his haters ammunation to use against him.
