Here's the interview. Andre himself says he thinks the promotional dispute set him back only 1 year.

Ward's easily become the most hated fighter on this forum…..his lack of activity lately has been disappointing however I believe a good percentage of the hate derives from his obvious superiority in terms of talent, intelligence and ring savvy. I'm not a huge supporter but the hate he receives is pathetic to say the least….when detractors focus on the location you fight at, the injuries you obtain the political red tape that surrounds your career and the many fabricated reasons why you fear Kovalev and GGG after the level of opposition you've already dominated you know envy is strong and the insecurities they possess starts to pour out in buckets of hateful sewage.

Anywho….come on Ward get back to the ring and stop wasting your talent. Its quite annoying lololol

This guy is so full of it. If or when the Kovalev fight happens? Did he say 5 years?? His body language is easy to read. Every time a question is asked that he isn't quite comfy with he pulls his shoulders inward and starts rubbing his leg! :D

Never believe Andre Ward when he says anything about his career.

A few years ago when he beat Edison Miranda he said he was gonna be a crescendo of continually taking on better and better opposition. So after fighting Kessler, he ducked Andre Dirrell to fight a bum I can't remember the name of.

After beating Froch, he fought a series of overmatched B-level fighters and ducked the undefeated IBF champion Lucian Bute who was calling him out on all the youtube channels.

He then ducked Groves and DeGale when they were on a roll, instead just basically going on vacation with the excuse that his promotor wasn't paying him enough. Actually, it was a miracle a boring fighter like Ward made as much as he did. Ward is boring because all his fights are the same. Once you've figured out his modus operandi, you can only be bored with every fight he has: he always fights a guy with slow feet and poor defense, so he can just jump in and out and win by pot-shotting. Whenever a fast fighter calls him out, Ward ducks him and fight Edwin Rodriguez or Paul Smith.

He recently said he wanted Kovalev. Now, Kovalev is slow-foooted, but Ward has probably realized that Kovalev is good at catching an opponent coming in, by setting clever traps. Kovalev looks unskilled at first, but he is a great boxer. Do not expect Ward to fight him.

When Ward fights anyone with speed and or an at least decent level of slickness and boxing skill, I'll watch. Until then, I'll continue to predict the result of all his fights: outboxing a slow-footed, defenseless slugger.

I doubt that the contract says that and doesn't have any conditions Ward can't hide behind. He will trick everybody including his own promoter (wouldn't be the first time).

Ward never fights a slick fighter with hand speed and great footwork because it would make Ward look like a B level fighter. People keep comparing Ward's style to Floyd's but they aren't nowhere near the same. Floyd's defense consists of much more than just clinching and he has better footwork. Ward is just a wide footed head first mugger that clinches to death.

Ward's situation is really funny, when Ggg offers 164 they said Ward will be drained because he fought at 173 last time and doesnt weigh 168 anymore. But when Kovalev said come up to 175 Ward and Virgil say he doesnt feel like LHW.
