Before opening his mouth, Ward needs to fight somebody with a pulse first. He hasn't done that in 2 years.

Who would want to deal with him when he pulls out of a fight with somebody like Brand due to a minor knee trouble.

I know Ward says Kovalev is not his immediate target, but GGG saying Ward is not his and it's time to call the national guard.:lol:

Rodriguez was a decent opponent. Ward did want to fight a bum, but HBO disallowed that. Ward was also offered to fight GGG at that time, but he ducked preferring Rodriguez.

Ward was great IMAO but I don't see him not being affected by the inactivity. What I found amazing in Floyd career was to come back extremely strong after long layoffs. Leave all the cherry bull**** he did avoid some fighters but his ability to stay in shape why not fighting was up there with Leonard for the Hagler fight.

There is no active fighter named Andre Ward.

You make some valid points. He is making way too much money for tune up fights. I think a kind of easier fight is needed after a long layoff. But for Ward caliber of fighter such a fight should be Pascal for example. Not some unheard bum that doesn't have a prayer to win a round.

So were all supposed to put on are Andre Ward stars and stripes shirts and walk with our heads high because a fight between himself and Kovalev may happen in a year or two? Wait not may, but if or when?

I keep reading how fans mention this contract, but recall another fighter supposedly having a contract with an opponents name supposedly part of it, and that fight didnt happen.

I cant see that its an agreed fight until both signatures are on the paper and one may not like the terms to agree

I hate when they compare Ward with Floyd. There not even close when it comes to skill, opponent and longevity in the sport. Floyd fought Cotto after over a year layoff and he look great in that fight. He boxed and banged with Cotto.
