By Robert Hough Andre Ward (20-0, 13 KOs) and Allan Green (29-1, 20 KOs) said at a press conference Wednesday that they both support Olympic-style drug testing before their June 19 fight for Wards WBA title. The super-middleweights meet in Oakland, Calif., to conclude the Super Six World Boxing Classics second round. Dan Goossen, Wards promoter, supports the proposal and said he would discuss it with Lou DiBella, who promotes Green. Green, who appeared at the Oakland press conference via a video stream from Miami, Fla., said it would have hurt his training in nearby Fort Lauderdale to travel across the country and back for the event. Green, who replaces Jermain Taylor in Showtimes tournament, has been boisterous in the pre-fight build-up, but the Tulsa, Okla., native and resident was low-key and quick to compliment Ward.
...Warning that I doubt he ever cared to revolutionize the sport, he may indeed be doing so. We'll see.
+1. This is what I thought the whole time despite being a $ fan. He can use the clean up the sport motive since demanding blood tests makes him look like a pioneer. He seems to believe it more and more after each time he says he wants to make things clean.
Ward is an example of what you do when people SAY that you are doing PED. TAKE the test. Its that simple. Good for Ward.
Your right, he truely believes that Pac is a dirty fighter. I dont understand why that is so hard for people to understand.
Good point. People wont be pointing a finger at Ward if he does this. Alexander Potvetkin also held a press conference today where he made a plea to the Klitschko camp to join him in undergoing WADA sponsored OSDT in a proposed fight between the two.
Here's something you need to understand about people, their motives can change. I have very little doubt that Mayweather first brought this up because his dad convinced him Pacquiao is on something. Over the last few months though, he may have convinced himself that this would be a good thing for the sport as a whole.
that's good news to hear... now if other major fighters would just follow suit..., it could lead to bigger, better things...
Doesn't Ward work with Conte. He must know how to beat the test. I hope it's truly random (as Conte said that's the only way for it to work)
I'm all for this but it should be for every fighter in boxing. GBP and Mayweather made the whole thing look a joke simply because the under card fighters on Mayweather V Mosley never took blood tests. It should be for every ****ing fight not just fights they want. The whole thing is a joke.
