Ward and Kovalev ATM should be at a 171-172 catchweight if it happens now.

If the penalty for coming in overweight is $30k Kovalev will gladly comply.

No he doesn't, his body still hasn't developed into that frame to comfortably make 175.

He was 173.4 2 and a half weeks b4 the weight in ffs.

    Do you not read?

You clearly have no grasp on how boxing works.

Were there not heavyweights who fought at 205-210 in the past?

Yes there was. Lebedev CAN fight there, it just would put him at a disadvantage.

    Same with Ward.

Learn to understand that with your slow brain man. :patsch

He doesn't look well muscled up at all, maybe you haven't been to the gym as much as I have or watch enough boxing.

So he should stay at 168.

Saying Ward should stay at 168, or move to 175 are both valid, sensible opinions.

Saying that yet another worthless BS catchweight fight should be made, is not.

    This is all I'm suggesting

If people want the fight to HAPPEN NOW (When Ward can't comfortably make 175), it should be at 171-172.

If sensible boxing fans want the fight to be great, they'd wait till he can comfortably make that weight (Maybe 3-4 years from now), then the fight should happen.

    That's all I'm suggesting.

    To you.

Not to well muscled up men and people in the game of boxing.

I do read. Just because he doesn't blow up and have to cut crazy weight, doesn't mean he can't fight at the full limit. He already struggles a bit to make SMW. I don't see a point of having a CW. It's not like Ward is a small SMW.

    Nope.

Ward indeed isn't obliged to move up, I'd like to see him fight at least one more decent fight at 168 before moving up (GGG if he wants to move up or Degale, maybe Groves/Jack winner).

If he decides to move up and challenge Kov then it should be at 175. "Unable to make 175" doesn't make sense anyway, you're only unable to make it if you are coming down in weight. Ward could do exactly as he does now and come into the ring in the same condition he was Saturday if he likes and just accept being out-weighed in the ring by ~10lbs. If he decides he can bulk up in an effective way thats on him.

I don't understand the clamour for catch-weights at all, particularly if you are the fighter moving up, its a lose-lose situation. You are basically saying "I don't think I can beat you in a fair fight" and trying to weaken your opponent. Then if you win you get little credit for it, and rightly so as you will never be able to prove the fighter you beat was the same as the guy usually is at his normal weight. $$$ as usual I suppose. :conf

Personally I think Ward does have the skills to be competitive and I would say at 175 this fight is around 50/50. Guess you don't agree then MVC? Why no faith in your man? :hey
