If Golovkin can make 160 lbs. he has no reason to fight a super-middleweight (but for Christ sakes Golovkin tell your trainer to shut the **** up.)

If Ward can make 168 lbs. he has no reason to fight a light-heavyweight.

There should be no such thing as a catchweight title fight. It ruins the whole purpose of weight classes.

The only reason most guys move up in weight is because they can't make their lower weight class anymore. They are not "cheating" they are not "bullying" they are simply taking advantage of the rules.

I don't like catch weights myself and I wouldn't support the idea for this fight. I don't like the thought that Ward is ducking Kovalev as they are different weights, you cant just expect a fighter to move weight class and when they don't call it ducking. Ward beats Kovalev very easily in my opinion, I am not his biggest fan by any stretch of the imagination but he is just different class to Kovalev.

Ward doesn't have money behind him to force Kovalev to go down. He is no Mayweather, Cotto, Canelo or even Chavez Jr.

Anyway, Sergey is big @ HBO now after the marquee Hopkins win. Ward won't dictate much, MAYBE the venue but then again I'd be surprised. Bigger share of the revenues is probably more likely at something like 60/40 for Ward, knowing he'll be crying to Hershman and Nielsen at the negotiation table.

 

Ward will likely want 10 mil to fight Kovalev, so the fight is not gonna happen.
