They forget that well schooled complete boxers like Ward are Kryptonite for Canelo. Good example of this is what Floyd did to him.
Yes and this is why robberies work and still happen, over time they become just a factual entry in the history books and part of the narrative.
Exactly when was this mythical matchup supposed to take place that Ward wanted oh-so badly? When he was busy feuding with his promoters and couldn't fight anybody? Or when he already decided to move up to 175 lbs. because he couldn't physically make the 168 weight limit anymore, let alone a 164 or whatever catchweight? For that matter, even if any of Ward's offers were genuine (they weren't) why would GGG ever accept a Ward fight when he had Lemuix and the winner of Canelo/Cotto all lined up? Why take a risk fighting a p4p ranked opponent who, let's be generous and say wasn't a HUGE draw when the big money fight was just around the corner? It wasn't a serious offer from Ward despite his blustering to the contrary, and even if it was GGG's team wouldn't have let him take it even if he wanted to despite their blustering to the contrary. Neither guy is "afraid" of the other and you are a moron of the highest caliber if you think otherwise.
Why the **** do you always act like 3G HAD to fight ward in his first bout at 168??? Did Ward fight Kov fight fight at 175?? No. But you insists that 3g HAD TO FACE Ward his first fight at 168. Did canelo fight the #1 SprMW fight fight there? Did he fight the #1 LtHW first fight there?? But with 3G....he HAD to fight Ward first... AND...when should they have fought?? Ward was out for a while w/ his shoulder injury and promoter issues. He came back at 175, saying he could no longer make 168.
How many times do I have to tell you that I never said ggg had to fight ward for his first fight at 168? That would've been unfair and unrealistic. I've always maintained that he couldve had a fight there first to get accustomed to the weight and then fought ward next. Just like it was understood that ward moving to 175 he would be fighting kovalev down the road. The fight was basically agreed to with that in mind.
Then how did he duck Ward?? Ward was out for a while, came back at 175. Did 3G now need to move to 175 instead??
GGG didn't duck Ward, GGG's handlers ducked him. I believe GGG was always about taking riskier fights.
He didn't want the fight. He wanted to fight ward at 164 a weight he knew ward couldn't make on top of that he was willing to fight froch and jcc Jr at 168 but not ward. Win lose or draw it would've benefitted gggs legacy fighting ward.
Froch and JCC easily offered larger paydays. They would be able to dictate certain terms. Ward had no clout at all. You know how it works when you can draw.
Irrelevant! Gggs resume sucked his best win was Martin Murray back then. He needed a legacy fight with a top p4p fighter. Ggg never dared to be great and he has no one to blame but himself for his suspect resume. Lastly a fight with ward back then would've been a career high payday to that point. So it was high risk and high reward.
Exactly my Uncle Azumah Nelson’s displayed greatness in his loss to Salvador Sanchez taking the fight as a last minute novice substitute giving the legend true hell on earth over 15 rounds before he lost. He lost that fight but a legend was born. You never heard Azumah complain about going into the other guys backyard rather he used it as extra motivation to beat the crap out of the guy decisively. Ask the legends the great Wilfredo Gomez and the Thunder from Down Under Jeff Fenech to name a few.
