Ward being smacked like that in r2 just goes to show how special of a fighter Mayweather is.

Absolutely, Ward is not in the same league as Jnr.

As far as Hunter goes what a disgrace he is, since when does a trainer of the opponent start questioning the purse the other fighter is getting from their promoter & then go on to mention how kovalev lost his father young...the ward manager was no better he tried to make it a hate Russia fight...all smacks of desperation & the the hometown verdict...stinks all day long!

In this we totally agree although that I've said many a time that Mayweathers name should crop up when talking of Iron chins,he's taken shots that would totally wiped some guys out,he also uses movement instead of wrestling which is what Ward basically does

But he did say "Rarely", that was one of those rare occasions where Floyd had to take a solid shot, but he took it well, and at no point was going to hit the canvas imo. Ward didn't do anything wrong , he just got countered by a fighter just as good as he is, and Ward at that point knew how tough the fight was going to be. That was perfect timing by Kovalev.

 

Exactly what Paulie said at the time,ward did what he was supposed to but just got countered so perfectly and to hit Ward it does have to be perfect infact it turned out a one off in twelve rounds.

 

Yeah, Ward had the right idea, counter the Jab with a right hand, but Kovalev was going to shoot that right hand regardless and that right hand couldn't have been any more perfect than that.

 

Hard to compare anybody to Floyd to me best.
