You just proved my point. Most casuals don't find him exciting in the ring. If a casual doesn't find him exciting, they need a reason to pony up the $$$. And for a casual, that isn't "boxing skills". That's the urge to see him get his face punched. PERIOD. And no one understands that business model more than Floyd himself.

It's not as if Floyd is the only skilled guy to ever lace them up. But he is one of the few to market himself as a heel properly and get the general public to despise him. Broner is following in his footsteps.

Also, being undefeated and "boxing skills" are two completely different things. Yes, the public does attach more interest to his undefeated record for sure.

 

A good few people watch to see Floyd and Broner get beaten. Also, no such thing as bad publicity, especially in boxing where so much is down to promotion etc.

it all has to do with marketing and entertaining . people like drama, people like good guy vs bad buy role. mayweather and broner will do good numbers because people want to see them lose and then people will root for them to win as well. ward and bradley are thought of has having no personality or charisma or very little. i support those fighters as well but the mainstream dont.
