Competition is dry at 168. I'll be happy to see this, but make no mistake about it, Pavlik is nowhere near the force he once was to make Ward worry about anything. Back in 2008 before B-Hop took his soul, yeah, this would have been a compelling fight. But right now, it's an easy night's work.
What in the hell can Kelly do with Ward on the inside. And Ward will easily get inside on him. This will be a terrible mauling for Kelly. However, in the end, I really don't think Kelly will take this fight.
Kelly hasn't showed up to fight in 5 years. I'd be very disappointed in Ward if he fought this washed up alcholic. Ward should be fighting Dirrell (even though he's undeserving of a shot, he's clearly the tougher fight for Ward).
This would be a profile raising affair and some cash, nothing else. I've been a big supporter of Kelly, but he has gone backwards in his career while Ward's career trajectory is straight to the moon. HBO could package this up, maybe to a 24/7 showing Kelly working back from his problems, and get a million and a half viewers, though.
