Would Hopkins out-Ward Ward, or would Ward bring something new to the table and out-fox the wily ol' fox? Ward's jaw is pretty unproven, Hopkins is solid. Perhaps this could be the difference
Pavlik was a bum but Ward has beaten superior fights just as convincingly, if not more so in Kessler, Froch and Dawson than Pavlik.
Ward would beat that Hopkins, probably. Very interesting fight tactically and technically though. Peak for peak I think you'd have to favor Hopkins because he just did most things that bit better, but it'd always be a very competitive and interesting fight.
My feelings too. Ward is like a prototype Hopkins, but that Hopkins had way more experience Ward 's impressive as hell though, i wouldnt be too shocked if he found a strategy that worked, making the old man work for 3 minutes each round
Hopkins retained his foot speed, he still has it now. That gives him an argument to dictate the range. Dawson has quick feet, but sloppy footwork with no intelligence behind it. Nard would not allow Ward to dictate, and he's one of very few (And I mean hardly any) who could do that to Ward in the last twenty years. What does Ward do, when Hopkins establishes his own jab, ties Ward up. Ward tries to work on the inside, only to find out that the guy standing opposite knows more tricks than he does.
A "prime" Hopkins most of you guys are talking about is a 160 fighter. Who's to say if he could be so effective at 168?
