You guys have some backwards logic. HBO for years, in fact every year, blow their budget on fighters without any fanbase. If they were to give Dawson 1 million + this fight might have ruined their budget like Bradely v Alexander did. Dawson is lucky to get 600k. His name won't generate that in ticket sales at the very least.

 

Most other individual pro sports are the same and some team sports are as well. The elite few make squillions and the others are left to fight over the crumbs.

once you break 1m$ per year, you get over 50% taxed. dawson has sponsor deals, and probly gets employed as a sparring partner for cruiserweights, hes not far off that 3 weeks after a fight.
