Ward did exactly what he needed to do to prepare for Kovalev

he decisioned a 40 yr old man who was significantly undersized - didn't even knock him down. He doesnt even have the power to make kovalev blink.

 

He was fighting a 40 Year old Journeyman for God sake....Kovalev will get charged with Murder if the fight happens.!!!

 

Did he win any against Kovalev though?

 

Ward did the opposite to prepare for Kovalev. Chilemba is a totally superior fighter than Brand, would probably have stopped him. Watched Kovalev fight on DVR after the Ward fight. I was surprised that Kovalev looked faster than Ward, more snap on his punches, punches so much harder...................I really think Kovalev will knock Ward out..............Kovalev would have knocked Brand out for sure..............if Brand can land a few punches on Ward, I know Kovalev will...............

Chilemba was the perfect fighter for Kovalev to prepare for Ward..............

 

Yep, he found a guy his size with long arms and some power who delivers straight shots from various angles, what will prepare him for Kovalev's style just without the huge power... oh wait... no... he didn't.
