Thought i'd strike while irons hot. I'm seriously amped for this. You can moan about the super six but it throws up all sorts of battles. Abraham-Froch obviously has a trench war written all over it but for us fans of the noble art this could be scintillating. Skills vs Speed Ward's tactically cute and shown new facets to his game tonight. Dirrell has speed and also shown he has the ability to stick to plan against Abraham but hasn't been in a fight with a man like Ward who can match his physical advantages and has a lot to his game then just walking forward. Who Wins and How??? :bbb
Best fight in boxing atm. Dirrell stops him I think late or wins a ud. Ward has a big lack of power and cant see Dirrell being so poor on the inside as kessler and green were. There lack of footwork speed allowed Ward to get there. Dirrell will use his reach and being the quicker fighter will dictate the pace. Ward is reckless at times and his wins against Kessler and Green were tailored made opponents for him. His distinct lack of power will be the main difference in the figth as we have seen Dirrell can bang hurting froch and dropping aa. Ward landed at will against Kessler and Green yet neither were ever hurt. Dirrell is a lot faster and has the quicker reflexes. But Ward makes up for the lack of power in his hopkins esque style of rushing in head down always staying out of range. Both thinking fighters who work to a gameplan I can definitely see Dirrell landing a few hooks as Ward rushes in and will hurt him along the way. Dirrell stoppage.
I'm gonna say from Early i always felt Ward has more to him. He's got heart. He's got skills and also plans accordingly to each battle at hand. He says he doesn't watch tapes but i feel after watching tonight's fight that he is fully aware of strengths and weaknesses. He shown the ability to adapt. He is very smart at not allowing fighters to get a rhythm. Always changing it up round by round (Mayweather esque) his hitting and holding off the back foot boxing (hopkins esque) and his speed and fast attacks (Jones Esque). His in game is fantastic. Using the forearm to create leverage and angles for punches and he showed how sharp he is to body. He can change and adapt and that's what champions need to do. There's still a question mark over Dirrell. Abraham's display was typical and really we knew Dirrell would win early rounds. He started to wilt a little late on before the DQ. He can box and can look supreme..but it's when he wants to against come forward pressure fighters. Can he handle someone who matches him but also has imo more guile and ring savvy aswell as having more to his bow. For me Skills Pay Bills. Ward has speed to go to boot. I see Ward winning on points in a fantastic battle of wits and gifts.
ward won't be able to do what he did to green to Dirrell. sparring match till ward tries to chase and smother.. Dirrell aint a fan of being put up against the ropes. Ward fought great tonight though. He would have to do that to Dirrell.
Ward fights each fight differently. He won't allow Dirrell to get into a rhythm that's for sure. I think they will try negate each other and it will be cautious early but i can see it unfolding into a very good fight. Dirrell doesn't like being worked on the inside....
I like Dirrell but Ward's just too good for everyone in that division IMO, he will come up with a gameplan and neutralise Dirrell's speed and take a close but comfortable UD. Ward's ring generalship is outstanding. I'll come up with a more definitive breakdown tomorrow when i'm not physically forcing my eyes to stay open.
Yeah the first few rounds will be slow. Both fighters leave there left hand out like klitschko and that will last for a few rounds. But, then again both started quickly against Kessler and AA.
Look forward to it :good Already agree with you. espicially the ring generalship. His ring IQ will take him to victory imo. Yeah i agree. The reason i see it being a little more cagey then there fights against them two is because there ex team mates, friends and also know that they cannot give early rounds up being naive. But once they relax and get into things it will be fantastic viewing.
One good point about Ward is how he adapts to fighting as the Away fighter. I think mentally he be strong enough and being so experienced he cope well but i been wrong many times before.
