Injury or not you have to laugh at the situation. Ward now sits in a spot where, again, all he can do is talk.

 

You'd have to assume the Kovalev fight won't be in 2016 unless Ward does something he hasn't in over 6 years...fight more than twice in a year.

 

It was a tune up too far and Ward knew it.

 

Well it was an awful fight, needs to fight a much better opponent next time. He should fight Fanfora.

 

Hopefully the knee is just something minor. If it ends up needing a scope or any surgical intervention, it may never be quite the same. It will then be a knee that cannot be depended upon. For a fighter, it means future losses and retirement.

 

What Ward is actually ducking is the drug testing he'd get from outside of his local commission.

 

That's a good point. Because I bet his knee is loaded with Cortisone injections. He needs to get in touch with Floyd and have USADA hook him up with a TUE in Nevada.

 

2017 is more likely.
2 tune ups will take up a whole year for Ward because he needs 5-6 months between catchweight tune ups vs SMWs above the SMW limit.

 

I wonder if they agreed on a purse split for Kovalev vs Ward in the HBO contract?
