I think ward is the only guy in boxing that I really like outside of the ring but dislike the way he fights and his dumb nickname.

I sometimes hate the stuff I see in the ring, but at the same time, I appreciate that he's very good at what he does. And his persona outside of it is one of the main reasons I'm a fan of his. Anyone who shows elite talent and skills, and has the personality to match, get's a :good from me.

I like him outside of the ring, but don't care for him in the ring.

yeah he is really classy and mature, I just wish he didnt fought dirty and out of oakland more then it would be much easier to like his work.

    True.

I like the way he comes off in interviews.... but I really have to distract myself from the Mares he did on Kessler to think that way.

Bottom line is that he is a very dirty fighter who comes off as a hypocrit.

I would like Ward-Kessler II and as long as it is a nice clean fight I'm happy no matter who wins. right now the bad guy won, just like Mares-Agbeko. I want Ward to be the good guy... and then he can win and Ill support him.. for for now he is a dirty hypocrit - and I do hope he loses to Froch.

After seeing how things in the Super Six played out, I think this whole Oakland thing has been blown out of proportion. He has only had one fight in Oakland in this competitoin against a Super Six original (Kessler). The other two were against Green, who was a last minute entrant, and Bika, who was a stay-busy opponent. And yes, Abraham was somewhere in California, too.

So other than Kessler, where else could he really have fought them that would have had an impact on the results? He could have tussled with Green in an alley in Oklahoma, Bika in a shanty town in Cameroon, Abraham in the mountains of Armenia, and the results would still have been the same.

American superstars, such as Ward, rarely ever fight outside of the US, anyway. I don't see why Ward should be subjected to further criticism, any more than any other US fighter. People forget that up until now he was a young fighter with only 20 or so fights, where it was quite normal to fight in your hometown. It shouldn't matter now, because he's reached a point in his career where he'll soon be fighting in venus like Vegas, New York, etc.

I think it's the tournament scenario that has had people up in arms about the whole "stay at home, all his fights in Oakland" thing, mate.

The tournament scenario effectively meant the boxers in the tourney would be required to travel for at least one fight in the interests of fairness, although as you've put above, it A) wasn't applicable for Ward due to pull outs and replacements and B) Wouldn't have affected the results anyway.

I like Ward both in and out of the ring - he's a classy guy (which can be rare in boxing).

I'm still rooting for Froch though!
