not that it wasn't entertaining, but it is overrated. how can people say it was the best fight ever or in their top 3? here's a list of fights off the top of my head that were better sith-monishpour corrales-castillo i vargas-trinidad carbajal-gonzalez 1 pryor-arguello i chavez-taylor i holyfield-bowe i gatti-robinson i saad-johnson i saad-lopez ii chacon-edwards ii chacon-limon iv cotto-torres ali-frazier i ali-frazier iii basilio-demarco barrera-mckinney barrera-morales i
This is a subjective argument. Gatti- Ward is overrated to you. Those fights you listed are better to you. Someone may prefer Gatti- Ward to any of those fight you listed. Doesn't make them right or wrong.
It is overrated, two glorified club fighters beating the **** out of each other just doesn't interest me.
How many of those fights did you see live? That makes a huge difference. Pretty hard to get as excited about a fight when you know how it ends.
Agreed, it is a very subjuective argument and there is the factor of whether or not you saw the fight live
Gatti - Ward I is the most overrated fight of all time. And nobody is going to convince me otherwise. I mean overrated regarding how highly others rate it among their greatest fights. Watch the first 5 rounds and you'll see Gatti boxing behind his jab, moving, and throwing in the odd right hand. Ward hardly gets off with any punches over the first half of the fight. Only during the second half of the fight does it catch fire. The 9th round was pure excitement and drama beyond belief. A very good fight. But nowhere near Ali- Frazier III, Pryor-Arguello I, Holyfield-Bowe-I, Morales-Barrera I, and Corrales-Castillo I.
Joe Calzaghe was pretty much a club fighter before sharing rings with Lacy and Kessler. Dangerous matches on paper, not something Calzaghe was accustomed to prior to those fights happening.
