This fight is overrated partially due to ethnic nostalgia, back in the old days when Irish-Americans and Italian-Americans were more prevalant in the sport instead of "those foreigners".
but again.. that is YOUR opinion. If i like Gatti vs ward 1 more then Corrales vs Castillo... which i do... then that is my choice and i dont see how anyone else can say its too high. This is not like ranking fighters... where you can say well he lost to him and this and that, based off facts and evidence to back up your arguments, its pure opinion... so imo, no fight could ever be 'too high' on anyones personal list, because differant people like differant fights for differant reasons.
many think it's overated cause they were always b level fighters.....but that doesn't matter when it comes down to the kind of fight it was....because to me, they were kind of equal, so the trilogy deserves all the creds it gets... now if it was floyd vs ward in a fight of the year, then that would be a bit weird, but it's gatti vs ward for ****s sake....two of the biggest warriors of our time....and their skill level should never be in the same sentance as their heart......cause HEART FOR HEART, their at the top...
Gatti vs ward... when gatti is just getting his ass HANDED to him... to the point of taking a knee... "and here comes gatti back!!!" "you know.. you dream of fights like these... but very seldom do they meet your expectations... damn i forgot what he says exactly but something like it goes past his dreams or something like that... that fight gives me chills and is purely awsome... Corrales vs Castillo is on that level but doesnt do it for me the way that Ward vs Gatti does. i do like morales vs mab more.. but only because i love morales and it was brutality WITH skill...
of course castillo vs corrales doesn't do it for you kirk, your racist... your gonna choose the whites over the browns any day of the week :good :good :good :yep :yep :yep
one more thing... when jim is pleading stop it frank... you can stop it anytime.... as gatti is getting beat senseless god it brings back great memories... ive probably watched that fight 40 times...
