This would be a very, very competitive fight. Golovkin is probably the only guy north and south of 168 that could give Ward a decent fight. This isn't about Golovkin's power, you need more in your game than that to beat Ward. Golovkin has the ring IQ to ask serious questions of Ward. Wouldn't be at all surprised to see it happen in the next 12 months.
Golovkin should stay at 160 for the moment. Just as big fights for him there, he is still relatively untested despite his potential so fight a few middleweights before jumping weight to fight a top 3-5 P4P guy
Golovkin could do 168 comfortably. True, Ward would be the bigger man but this would be a serious test for Ward.
What fights have convinced you of Golovkin having a ring IQ anywhere near Ward's? Was it the time he made the brilliant tactical decision to forget about defense against Ouma?
Did find it very strange after he obliterated Proksa that Kellerman asked Golovkin would he face the Ward-Dawson winner. Like i said, this fight may not be a long way off at all. What HBO usually wants......!
The typical Golovkin basher who watches 1 single fight of his and forms an opinion off of that. Golovkin fights nothing like he did against Ouma 9 times out of ten. He had only started with Sanchez and he didn't even realise the talent he was working with. Been following Golovkin for years, he has excellent timing, footwork and if touches Ward clean the likelihood is he would be in trouble.
I like Golovkin and he is a good fighter but he just beat Proksa and you compare him to a much bigger much better and maybe one of the best ever SMW? Although he was weight drained he just beat the best LHW in the world. There is a huuuuuuuuuuuugggggggeeeee difference between Proksa and Ward. No he does not beat Ward after his wina against Froch everyone said how Froch was overrated now after his win against dawson there is the same **** again. Golovkin is maybe one of the best MWs but he hasn't even fought Sturm (altough not his fault) Sergie or Chavez if he does same thing he did with Proksa against one of them then maybe he has a chance but Ward is one of the very ebst p4p fighters in the world and he is younger bigger and still improving
I've watched plenty of Golovkin. I just have no idea what makes you think he has a high enough ring IQ for that to be a factor against Ward, especially given the level of competition the two of them have been facing.
I feel you, I just think GGG should concentrate on leaving his mark on MW. A fight with the winner of Martinez vs Chavez Jr. makes the most sense right now, (personally I'd like to see him whip both their butts) and the fight(s) most fans would want to see first, before a decision is made to move up to chase Froch and Ward.
