Canelo will never get respect until he fights GGG; The best. If he waits until GGG is 37, 38 he won't get respect either.

Best fighting the best. That's what matters.

Does not matter. He fought Floyd Mayweather Jr. The man that GGG would starve for, remember. He said he was willing to go even further than 154 for TBE. The power of money for ya.

Probably not, if it even happens at all.

Ward has also yet to fight a guy who's mere touch can bring abject terror into the eyes of guys with iron chins either. Hopkins and Pascal (aside from 2 or 3 flush punches) didn't try to win, they tried to survive.

Damn right I will. Canelo will drop the belt and fight Manny Pacquiao next at a catchweight or he will beat up Margarito for the vacant 154 WBC belt.

It's all about name recognition for Canelo now. He will not fight anybody at 154 or 160 that really deserves it.

That's not really germane to my original point. He's the lineal middleweight champion. People want to see him fight the top 160 pound contender.

That's what matters here because defending the MW title is what Canelo is doing here.

Well as a fan of boxing I understand. The reality is what is anybody going to do about it? The WBC is about the money remember all the crooked **** Don King did with them for the last 40 years?

The WBA are in anybody's pocket and the WBO has catered to Top Rank and the Euro boxing scene. I like to joke but I'm a realist. It's entertainment and more people know his name.
HBO will not force it because of those Cotto/ Canelo numbers and if Canelo /Khan goes over half a mil and the company makes money, GGG is up ****s creek. Canelo has never fought a Mandatory in his entire life, why start now.

Canelo will probably not be punished for ducking the best fighter in his division.

Which sucks, but that's the reality of boxing right now. I think what's happening right now is that boxing is eating itself alive. Boxing built up so much respect from the fans from so many legends and great fights over the years. But now politics is preventing big fights for years now and the sport is suffering.

TL ... but I did read it. My response: Canelo needs to sack up and defend his MW belt against Golovkin.

Yea you're right. Canelo (he's 25 and still growing) will continue killing himself to make 155 for the next 4-5 years specifically to avoid Golovkin. I can only imagine the toll that will take on his organs but Canelo is a star and a future legend!

I can't weight for the day Canelo can't make 155.

    Yes, the pun was intentional.
