Ward always enjoyed being either taller or having a longer reach over guys he fought. Good luck trying to wrestle. But if he can cut Kovalev with a head butt or elbow you never know. Cant count Ward out completely. Well maybe only if Barrera beats up Ward and ends the whole train.
Ward IS a great defensive boxer actually and he has plenty of a chance against Kovalev. I would pick Ward to handle anyone Kovalev's handled also.
I hope Ward signs to fight Krusher I truly do. It will be good to see another over rated Nob headed Yank, get the cr5p beaten out of them, and learn some humility and do a hard nights work
SOB said that he was not ready for Kovalev yet, probably have a fight in 2017. I have to see them in the ring before I will believe SOB Ward........................
Anyone thinking Kovalev is going to have an easy time with Ward is kidding themselves. Yes Ward is the smaller man and is clearly over powered by the harder hitting Kovalev but he isn't going to try and over power Kovalev. What he will do is try to stop Kovalev getting into a rhythm with movement, mauling and clinching. He'll try and prevent Kovalev letting his hands go by doing this and make it his kind of fight. People need to also realise Ward doesn't just out strength guys in the clinch, it's his technique, how he uses his head, shoulders, elbows and hands in the clinch which makes him seem stronger when in reality he isn't having to use much strength at all. He's controlling his opponents head and where the head goes the body follows and that's why he's the boss in the clinch. Ward will be presenting Kovalev problems he has not had to deal with as a pro yet. Now this doesn't mean Kovalev won't win, last time an opponent made him show something else was against Hopkins and he passed that test with flying colours. We've seen the best of Ward, we may have yet to see the best of Kovalev as to this point he's been rarely tested or forced to adapt.
