A lot of truth in this quote, Ward will never have an crowd pleasing style, but he doesnt care he goes for results, gets the job done and adds a W.
I like his attitude, he isnt lying saying he is going to ko froch or make it a great fight, just doing what he has to do to get the win.
I hope Froch forces him in a fight though, the s6 final desveres to be a war.

Ward won't go into a war if he doesn't have to ..Like he said in another interview ,"I don't get paid to get hit ,I was taught the right way to box " which means he will try to pick Froch apart as opose to trade with him ..

Historically, fans have never respected guys who refuse to mix it up, they don't right now and they never will either. Very few fans of this sport are actual boxing fans because the vast majority just want to see a good ****ing fight. Ward may keep on adding 'W's onto his record but unless he changes his mentality, he won't be regarded as highly as he should be.

OAKLAND REPRESENT!!! Andre Ward is the man!

On a serious note though: He should get more props than he does. Sure, his style may not be appealing to some people, but his attitude and composure outside of the ring is really a breath of fresh air that is needed for the sport of boxing.

I like his humble and honest attitude. It's a rare thing in my opinion and I think people should really embrace it. Ward would be a "good star" to have in boxing as he has the mentality to handle it.

Andre Ward is currently my favorite fighter, and has been for a quite a few years now. I agree with the OP, it may not be flashy, but he isn't there for that, he's there to win.

me too, the problem I have with ward is his unwillingness to travel, I can deal with his style which is boring but effective, I just wish he would travel more, that way there is more value to his wins.
If he beats Froch then him vs bute or martinez at a catchweight would be great, same applies if froch wins allthough I would like to see him fight Hopkins.

By the sounds of it, that won't bother him one iota. If he keeps winning, he'll go down as one of the greats, regardless of how popular he is. Similar to Bernard Hopkins.

Ward is just so mature and polished as a young fighter, it's scary.

So im not an actual boxing fan for disliking his style??
I like boxing. I like watching PBF, Hopkins JMM. That is good boxing. Ward is just horrible because he is boring as hell and basically tries to stink out a fight with "cheating" tactics.

He can win all the fighter of the year awards he wants but once that year is over he will be forgotten. Simple as that. Reminds me of a line from Troy when the little kid is telling him about the big dude and asks him if he is scared. He says no and the kid says he would be.

You agree with the AC venue? I think it's fair. Judges will most likely be from multiple locations I would imagine.

I really want to see the Froch/Ward winner fight Bute. Absolutely. Great possible future fight. I know Bute has expressed his desire to face the winner of the tournament and that's a good thing. Having an undisputed champion will be awesome.

His attitude, maturity, and humility really make me root for him though, besides the fact he is from my area. Breath of fresh air! I wish Mayweather had his attitude to be honest. He could learn a thing or two about self-respect from that man.

If Froch was saying this you'd be applauding him for caring more about the W than anything else. And FMJs massive success shows you don't need to be a thrilling, go-to-war type fighter to be a star either.

Yeah boy he sure cheated his way through that Abraham fight when he decisively schooled him.

Yeah atlantic city is cool, im more a fan of carl froch though so im rooting for him to win, allthough I think ward wins a decision.
I would rather see bute fight the kessler vs stieglitz winner that guy would then face off with the s6 winner, we would have an undisputed champion at 168 then.

Ward has the best shot of being the next dominant champ like a Hopkins ,Calzaghe if he continues his winning ways .
