But this is boxing-with rules-not streetfighting.Like it or hate it,dirty fighting is outside the rules thereby making it cheating ergo illegal in the sport.Hey my all-time favorite is Roberto Duran and he was pretty dirty. Many, many great fighters have used dirty tactics. It doesn't justify anything,I'm just adding facts.I just wish fans of a dirty fighter would admit that their fellow was dirty before they point the finger at others.

Everyone who's a fan of a lot of guys like I am is bound to be a fan of some dirty fighters too. With me I like guys like Barrera,Hopkins,Gomez,Holyfield, etc. and I accept that they're dirty but I don't hold it against them as everyone tries to do things to get an advantage whether it's clean or a foul. You know the old saying, "IF the ref didn't see it then it didnt happen...".

I didn't see the first fight but the second was actually a fun foulfest to watch oddly. I'm not really a fan of dirty fighting but I am a fan of some dirty fighters and I understand that it does gets rough in the ring sometimes.

It's not cheating at all it's fouling but I see what you're saying. Not defending some of my favs' tactics though as I'm a fan of some dirty fighter myself. I love Gomez but I admit that he would sometimes intentionally hit guys when they were down. That's dirty. VERY dirty.

*siigghh* no, THATS not the reason why i dont like him. the guy is just a dick plain and simple, he's just an arrogant ***** that thinks he's the second coming of jesus. add that to the fact that he has probably one of the worst fan sections that make me dislike him even more. i liked abraham before he resorted to ***** tactics to bail himself out of a fight he was losing badly.

It's ok to fight a bit dirty but when you take it to the next level and hire the dirtiest chemist qua nutritionist as your ped provider/advisor and then have the gall to call yourself sog...that's blasephemy, on the order of a pedophile catholic priest hiding behind a veil of peity so as to exercise your demons...

I don't find this crafty or special. Fighting dirty is fighting dirty period. I hate when people try to give it a different name. Hops is overboard with it, I really believe his performances would diminish by a good margin if he had to fight cleaner. He depends a lot on this. Probably why he doesn't like to travel. Sounds a lot like, you guessed it, The Oakland Billy Goat, Ward.

Exactly. They try to give it a different name. BS, fighting dirty is fighting dirty. Nothing else. Don't give me that BS about how he's so crafty and smart and adaptable. :rofl Bull****, he just throws some punches, and rushes in, head first to hug his opponent without a care in the world.

They say it's not intentional, lol, yeah he just rushed in and knows there's a huge chance he'll destroy his opponents face with his head, he just doesn't give a ****. :verysad

Hopkins travelled for Mercudo II, was willing to fight Calzaghe II in Cardiff and will be travelling to Canada for the Pascal fight. And that is abroad. He fought in Vegas and other neutral sites many times.

He fought the Pavlik, Tarver, ODLH and Johnson fights to name a few cleanly. He stepped up his dirty fighting when he became 30+, when his speed declined.

Trinidad, Echols, and Wright, were fights when Hopkins used his dirty fighting skills impressivingly to break his opponent down. Its not a tickling contest as Hatton said, its a fight.

What is the argument exactly? That Hopkins fights dirtier than Ward?

Or that Ward is a dirty fighter and people dont recognize it?

Ward is an excellent fighter and uses rough tactics to his advantage to win fights.

Hopkins fought dirtier as he got older. Considering he is about twice Wards age Im not surprised he has resorted to philly fighting in the last few years

Wards dirty fighting is over rated. Thats my point.

Hopkins is a legend when it comes to dirty fighting, that punch he landed on the back of Echols head that Knocked him down and then got away with it, thats skill. Ward aint on that level yet.
