I'd imagine fighters Calzaghe beat himself - Kessler and Bika - or ones that weren't considered good enough for a shot against Calzaghe when around the time retired - Froch, Abraham, Green and Dawson.

    absolutely
but a fighter who does that shouldnt (and neither should his fans) then try to build the fighter up after the time has gone when he had the chance to prove how good he was

a lot of fighters continue to fight for money even when bigger challenges are ahead of them, in which case they have to realize that they won't be remembered as well as others

Thats the obvious answer. They use the term to imply fighters are no more good after a points loss to Joe.

"I'd go to ENGLAND to face Calzaghe in his hometown!"

"I'd beat his ass in Europe" (on Danny Green, fighting in New South Wales)

That's because you Brits don't grasp that Wales ISN'T a sovereign country like the United States is, and claiming it that it does makes you look ignorant. Wales and England are state entities under the United Kingdom, just like California and New York are under the United States of America. Wales and England do not have their own federal governments, just like California and New York don't. Calling Wales and England "countries" don't change that fact.

Are England and France not seperate Countries too? They're both in the EU after all. This might seem strange Yank but in Europe we actually have many Countries that have their own culture, languages, ethnicities, history etc.

americans are ******s when it comes to this, just like they are when it comes to calling English...'British English' how ****ing ******ed is that? 'We speak American English not British English!' ....wtf? its not 'British English' its just English! Britain is Wales (the welsh have a language..its called Welsh), scotland....they have a language..its called Scots or Scottish Galeic.....and finally England..they have a language called...ENGLISH! Sometimes I wonder about the american school system.

Calzaghe embarrassed RJJ when he was coming off his career best win.

Ever been hit by a wrist? So much worse than a fist.

Do Welsh people elect people to their central government that sits in London?

Do they pay taxes that are distributed from London?

Is the Queen of England their head of state?

Is the Prime Minister of the UK their elected leader?

Does it say "British" on Welsh peoples passports?

When Welsh people compete in the Olympics, who do they compete for?

Wales has pretty much the same autonomy as any state in the United States.

Joe Calzaghe was British. The part of Britain he was from was Wales. Britain is part of the United Kingdom of Britain and Northern Ireland.

Thats even leaving out that fact that he was born in London.

As good a fighter as Ward is, there is little doubt he has a Glass Passport.

How far does 3,000 miles take you from the UK?

I doubt Ward has many hometown fans in Atlantic City just because it's American soil.

That thread is really funny. Ward's fanboy just don't have any argument backing them.
