Is there any real market in Wales? That's why Calzaghe travels, and it's barely traveling. Ward has had no real incentive to go elsewhere. Calzaghe fought in the UK for better paydays. That's the difference. It's not like if Ward grew up in Wales that he'd fought all his fights there.

I don't mind backing an Olympic Gold Medalist and undefeated professional Champion :good I admit we have special water in Oakland though! Like Popeye's spinach, once Ward drinks Oakland's water (or Atlantic City's) he makes a fighter like Froch look like Bluto at the end of a Popeye cartoon :bbb

I don't see it as quite the same for the reason you mentioned about the big fights being in the US. Legacy is about who you fight. The ring size, the arena, and all that is an after thought. No one really cares too much and it doesn't define the legacy. Ward record at this point of his career already matches, if not exceeds Calzaghe's. Froch, Abraham, Kessler, Dawson, Green, Bika. What exactly was Calzaghe doing at this stage of his career in comparison? Ward has a case for being P4P #1. Yes, we would all like him to fight outside Oakland. If he just fights within the US then it's not the same as fighting just in the UK. It's a double standard our cousins across the Atlantic need to accept. He has fought a lot of good fighters, that's what matters most.

Andre Ward is the undisputed champ of his division. He can do whatever the **** he wants to. These euros who think traveling within Europe is a big deal don't have a ****ing clue. We have ****ing states that are bigger than most of their countries. When a west coast fighter fights in AC he is 3500 miles and 3 time zones from home, so please, just shut the **** up.

    Olympic champ

    WBC, WBA champ

    Undefeated

    Cleaned out the division

Only 28 years old with 26 fights.

Why cant people just congratulate him rather than find ******ed reason to hate him?

    Deal with it

What is the difference? According to the haters Ward doesn't have any fans outside of Oakland, and the last I checked 2000 miles away from home is still 2000 miles away no matter where you are.
