Unbelievable but irrefutable. Straight after the Froch fight, Ward said Bute doesn't deserve a shot and he is interested in a Kessler rematch. Why does Bute not deserve a shot, he has the IBF belt? Did Bika deserve a shot?

I'm amazed Ward has taken this attitude. He could get a massive payday if he went to Canada and plus Bute has the IBF. Goosen could make a lot stipulations in terms of judges and the referee to prevent home town cooking.

Or for a smaller pay day, they could fight in New York, which Bute said he was willing to do.

The only explanation is that Ward is reluctant to face Bute right now, because if he isn't apprehensive there is no down-side.

Still I don't care Ward is ducking him. Froch v Bute should great and I will be very interested in a Ward v Kessler rematch.

Ward doesn't want any of bute.

He definatley won't have anything to do with him, when bute smashes 34 year old slowmo froch.

I admit, I wasn't too pleased with his comments about Bute. He accuses him [Bute] of not having fought any decent opposition, but, correct me if I'm wrong, hasn't he fought some of the same people Ward has (Bika and Miranda), and beat them far more impressively? He's also just dominated Johnson - a man who gave his best opponent (Froch) hell for 12 rounds, and a man who he himself rates as a top opponent. Surely that's gotta' count for something?

But with that said, I don't think he's scared of Bute. He's just wrongfully under the impression that because he's gone through a tough two years in the Super Six (which wasn't even tough at all), he somehow deserves to call the shots.

I agree with you. Can't really blame Ward tbh, Bute and Dirrell stylistically could give him problems, very risky to face them just after winning the whole super six. He probably will fight Bute sooner or later, but a bit too soon now.

I have said it many times, Bute is a joke. Ward will lose if he goes to Canada b/c Bute is the most protected fighter out there. He's a clown, fought noone of interest, and will continue to do so. Yeah, he has a belt so what. Who did he beat to get it?

Wrongfully? Ward is the man at 168 and does call the shots. That should be obvious now.

    1. You're all overestimating Bute and Ward's 'fear' of Bute by a long way.

    2. Bute and Ward will fight after Bute beats Froch, I think that's fairly clear. Be patient.

Ward and Bute will never fight each other because both aren't willing to leave home unless they have to....the difference is that Bute draws 22k people easy in MTL, while Ward doesn't bring in half that.

I can't believe Goosen was trying to convince people that Ward can bring in 16k in Oakland....if Ward even wants to make some serious money in his career, he will eventually have to leave his hometown and fight somebody where they can draw a crowd

The fans have their self to blame... they made such a big deal about the Kessler fight because of TWO headbutts which were unintentional, that is Euro fans, as such they didn't and tried not to give him credit for the victory and called him names. so he has a chip on his shoulder and wants to prove that he didn't just win because of 2 headbutts. If the Euro fans didn't say those things, then others didn't mention him as being a dirty fighter, he would not be looking at a kessler fight. i mean he completely dominated kessler, entirely. and i doubt kessler is going to be any better with his long layoff after nearly losing to Froch (i sort of still think froch won that)... but Kessler has a win over Froch, and been in more meaningful fights than Bute. Froch is in a position where he wants to get a belt back immediately, so with his mindset, he sees Bute as a good chance for this. I dont think Froch can handle not being a champ, his ego will not allow him, even if he was all class in his losing effort.

If Ward goes straight in with Bute and beats his - Bute will be written off as a hypejob built up in Canada against bums = high risk/low reward.

If Bute beats 1 or 2 of the other top fighters in the division then he proves himself as the real deal, Ward gets much more credit for beating him = high risk/high reward.

You know this is EXACTLY how boxing fans operate.

I'm sure Andre's just thinking of his legacy.
