Same here: I favour Ward will box on the back foot, controlling the distance, destroying Kovalev's rhythm with his tidy inside work and subtle fouling (along with a smattering of not-so-subtle fouls), and will claim a contentious SD which will leave many Kovalev fans clamouring for a rematch. I've thought this for a while and that this fight, heavily sought after, could prove to be a damp squib in terms of entertainment; but that doesn't mean it won't be an absorbing matchup. Of course, Kovalev has the type of power which can turn things his way, altering the course of any fight; but, can he land that one shot, or series of shots on Ward, a fighter who, for opponents, is notoriously tricky to land clean against with anything of any fight-altering significance. That is the main layer of intruige which makes this matchup a compelling one.
Brillaint observation, and you're basing this off of what? A feather fisted counter puncher being taken out of his comfort zone and being forced to play the aggressor on a guy fighting out of the southpaw stance running like Speedy Gonzalez? Crawford fights nothing like Ward, and Kovalev fights nothing like Postol.
It's a 70/30 fight in reality, advertised and thought of as 50/50 like Crawford/Postal. It'll be relatively easy for Ward, enough so that nobody will be calling for a rematch.
I predicted that Crawford would easily beat Postol, but since so many people were saying that Postol would beat Crawford etc, it made me think twice, and I had it a closer fight. That being said, from now on I'm not going to let others affect my judgement before a fight. Ward is on a completely different level than Kova. H2H, Kova is not going to be able to box with Ward, Ward will jab his head off, and just confuse the hell out of him. Kova will look completely lost against Ward. I was looking at this fight more of a 55/45 fight in favor of Ward because before the fight was made, more people favored Kova, but if I'm basing this off my own opinion Ward wins a comfortable decision. Feel free to bump this after the fight.
This :deal, I let too many people get into my head trying to convince me that Postol was going to give Crawford issues. Ward is on a completely different level than Kova. Kova would beat guys like Barrera etc in a more impressive fashion but h2h Ward is just too good. His adaption skills just like Floyd is on a different level.
Ward will be out of there by round 4, but yeah, op is right, he will run like the coward he is while it last
I'm not comparing Kova to Postol. I'm simply saying that I let too many people's judgment affect my picks for Postol/Crawford so I'm not going to make the same mistake twice. I'm going with my gut feeling, and I have Ward winning comfortably. You have Kovalev winning TKO9 like you did Postol right? We'll see who is right.
Try not getting cocky when picking against the Krusher, it'll blow up in your face like the Postol pick blew up in mine. And I'll be right here to rub it under your nose. And no I have Kovalev winning by KO4
I want to be ****y, so I can gloat more when Ward wins. If Ward loses I will eat my crow, and unlike you I won't try and discredit him. I've always ate my crow, and took my losses like a man.
Btw you know what's funny? NO ONE expected Crawford to just outbox Postol like that. Everyone was saying Postol was the better boxer, had the better reach, and to win Crawford had to get on the inside. Crawford completely dismantled and schooled Postol from the outside. He beat Postol at his own game. How impressive is that?
