Ward is making 5 million, Sergey 2 million.

That's just that guarantees, the PPV split might be much closer and if it does better than expected they might both get paid handsomely.

 

Kovalev accepting that kind of split tells me he hopes to become a US star in his own right with a potential win over Ward. IMO though, even if he wins, causals won't get involved. Ward is simply too unknown among the general public. He ain't no ODLH. A win might help Kovalev's track record among hardcore fans, but doesn't improve PPV appeal.

 

Not surprising....didn't one of His recent opponents get $40.000 in a recent fight....think they want to give him a good send off with a nice retirement fund after Kovalev defeats Him....good on him I say 5 Million to never see one of His boring Fights again is Cheap for suffering Boxing Fan's....

 

Yeah, well we don't know the full negotiations so I don't really want to blame anyone yet.

Still, you have to admire Kovalev's attitude. He could well lose to Ward, and his drawing power would disappear before he'd made a really good purse.

 

Do we know if there are any rematch clauses? If it's a stinker I hope we won't have to see it again.

 

Kovalev is content with his lot, he is not a *******ised money hoarder who will bargain for more just because he can.

Virgil Hunter needs to mind his own business and keep his nose out of others affairs.

 

Now this is why I fear the fight will be officiated in favor of Ward. What has Ward done in the last 5 years to earn that $$$ At best it should have been 50/50. You know how I feel about the NSAC biggest bunch of crooks on the planet. That's why I hope & pray Sergey knocks Andre Ward OUT!!! They cannot fix that.
Oh but there again they could DQ Sergey No ???? We do not want Ward made into the next Mayweather.

 

One guy participated in the super 6 and the other fought Hop, Cleverly and Pascal twice. Why is this a surprise? Kov isn't a draw. Ward isn't either. The fight got made. Boxing needs this fight and they both stepped up to the plate. 2 mil ain't peanuts.

Ward the bigger draw ???? LOL He cannot even sell out that little arena in Oakland. For what he's done in the last 5 years he's just been a club fighter.
