I agree that Kovalev should receive more money but how is Golovkin getting screwed?

 

That's about a 70/30 split which is surprising when you consider the ratings they both got on HBO were pretty similar.

I suspect the only way they could get Ward to agree to the fight was to offer him such a favourable split. You got to respect Kovalev, he doesn't seem overly concerned about how much he makes as long as he can make a living from boxing, he's far more interested in making good fights. It's a real shame Kovalev isn't more popular with the fans, he's the kind of fighter fans should rally around.

Yes Ward is being overpaid He's done NOTHING in the last 5 years to warrant $5 mil If Boxing wasnt corrupt he wouldn't be ranked in top 5 Lt Heavyweight list. let alone be called the A side

Look C.J. Golovkin took step-aside money to allow Cotto and Alvarez to fight other opponents instead of enforcing his mandatory. I admire Kovalev for wanting to make fights but Golovkin appears to be the very definition of a prima donna. I don't see him going out of his way to make any fights. Kovalev and Lomachenko are willing to make fights. Golovkin? Not so much.
