It sounds that he is off the PPV: http://www.boxing scene.com/sources-andre-ward-no-longer-on-cotto-canelo-ppv--97749?
The SOB probably demanded too much or the athletic commission disapproved his laughable opponent (who could also have died, as he is like 80).
Goodness gracious, it just keeps going from bad to worse. Honestly I'm starting to feel sorry for him.
One of his spies probably informed him that Brand had actually started training a full week prior to HBO approving him as an opponent.
Who wants to see a light heavyweight in Ward beat up an overmatched super middleweight who is not even very well known? I hope this is true, I hope they told him he is taking the p*** and to go away and come back with a fight worth watching. You have to remember Ward's first choice opponent was turned down. Ward is turning into a laughing stock. We are watching Ward waste his career.
No I don't think it was officially announced they were basically just waiting for an opponent before confirming it. But I guess they were not able to secure a good enough opponent on such short notice. I have to say I am becoming increasingly frustrated with Ward's career. Why he stalled for so long to make a decision in regards to his next fight is just beyond my understanding. His career is in free fall at the moment. I hope he learns from this mistake. He can't just make fights on short notice, he had months to sort out his first comeback fight but wasted months before fighting Smith. He once again had months to arrange his next fight after Smith but sat on his ass doing nothing and tried to make a fight materialise in a few weeks. Name another fighter that runs their career this way? My mind is blown at the level of incompetence here, he's wasted another year of his career. :fire
You fans never learn. Ward has no intention of fighting any real opponents, never mind fighting kovalev
Maybe he was given a pen and a contract to actually fight Kovalev...or maybe demanded PPV dollars because this was a "co headliner"...lol.
