Yes, that's the fight everyone wants to see. Let's see if it happens. If it doesn't.......Ward will be finished as a legitimate contender. He'll be a Tuesday night, Spike TV fighter.
Ward has two legit wins on his resume (Kessler and Froch), and he's been milking them for years now. He thinks he'll always be the best because of those two wins. Other than those, he has never beaten a great super-middleweight. He's always looking for an easy way to stay relevant, like fighting a drained LHW at SMW or just fighting bums. I stopped watching Ward when it became clear to me that he had no intention of trying to be great. He ducked Dirrell (too fast and skilled), then he ducked Bute (too much handspeed, footspeed and power), and then he ducked Groves and DeGale with the excuse that he had "promotional issues". Does anyone still believe this quack? Does anyone still care about him? Has everyone not realized that Ward is just trying to make easy money?
Ward paid Dirrell to fake the injury and drop out of the Super Six. Then he decilned to fight Anthony Dirrell. Ward only likes to fight slow plodders with no defensive skills. Ward has made himself and others think he is somebody he is not.
Pump c defecating in one hand Wishing for a Ward fight in the other Which will fill up sooner Do we even wander
And we told you Ward was done He dont want to fight no one He promised the Big G haters hope But only gave them suicide rope Leaving the brothers hanging Forever waiting
He claims he has a knee boo-boo: http://espn.go.com/boxing/story/_/id/14055084/swelling-knee-forces-andre-ward-nov-21-bout?
What going on is Ward wants to get his first 2 fights and $2mil minimum purses against the easiest possible opposition before he fights Kovalev.
Cotto got $45 million for 3 fights plus a $5 million signing bonus. I'm sure Roc Nation offered him less but he insisted on that much and they gave in to him. They think he is a rejuvenated fighter. I think its a garbage investment. $15 million per fight for a shop worn fighter that's taken multiple beatings and who is at the end of his career. But they figured the Canelo fight would make it worth it. Ward's deal was undisclosed but it seems to be $2mil per fight minimum.
Damn Ward can't even get out of training camp :-( Time to hang them up Andre, you're already an ATG...
