He just doesn't have the pull like he thinks he does. Granted, he has that gold medal, but it just doesn't have the same weight as Oscars gold medal, and that's what Ward thought. He thought because of that, and super 6, he could do however he pleased. Sadly for him, he's finding out he's really not that big of a star. Dude played "pin the wheel on the bum" to select an opponent, and it backfired. All of a sudden, his knee died. Within the next 6 months, he will announce his retirement. Be real with yourself, he has never wanted to fight the best.

I think both of Ward and GGG are a waste of time. Neither appear very interested in taking difficult fights. I understand it is a business, these fighters are trying to line their pockets - in the easiest way possible. But as a fan, I don't have to like it, and I don't. Hopefully some of these younger fighters can show a bit more ticker. For all the hate Broner cops, at least he puts his ***** on the line, as a fan, I'd much rather watch interesting fights - than one sided fights. I couldn't care if Ward or GGG never fought again.

Typical of co-ward, always calling out the same tactics he himself abuses

I bet he would also be disgusted by headbutts and clinches if he had to commentate a fight like one of his owns

At least Golovkin keeps active 3 or 4 fights per Year...Ward has had 1 fight in 3 Years and that was with a bigger Tomato Can than anything GGG has fought.!!!!

So it's a knee injury that's forced him out. Suffice to say if he isn't available to fight on Nov 21st then he won't be able to fight this year. What a waste of a year and what a waste of a fighter.

Nothing Ward can do, injuries happen can't really blame him for that but the way this comeback year has played out is his responsibility. 3 fights in 4 years is simply unacceptable.

When he signed with Roc Nation in January you'd think he'd be eager to get back in the ring. The WBA in February ordered he fight Froch and what does Ward do, he delays, he had months, months to sort out a fight with Froch or anyone else and he comes back 6 months later in June against Smith.

Then what does he do after this tune up? Does he have another opponent set up as Smith was just a tune up, usually a fighter has another fight arranged when facing a tune up, nope nothing, he sits on his ass doing nothing again for 3 months until early October when he shows an interest in fighting again 8 weeks later on the Cotto/Canelo card.

There is no urgency to Ward's career, he is wasting his prime years by just sitting on his ass for months on end then dragging his feet even when a fight is mandated or proposed. They called Roy Jones Jr "Reluctant Roy" because he seemed to lack a desire to really fight, well "Wary Ward" seems even more disinterested in fighting.

Ward now needs to recover and then fight twice next year before facing Kovalev at the end of 2016. 3 fights a year is not a big deal, Kovalev will likely fight 2 times next year as he is fighting Pascal in January but I suspect Ward will drag his feet again and want to push the fight back.

This is all about pushing the Kovalev fight into 2017 is possible at all. By then anything can happen to Kovalev. The Ward press release says everybody have a happy new year and see you in 2016. Also remember Ward said he had to humble himself to accept being on the undercard? Well that statement tells you that he didn't really want to fight on November 21st.

As long as Ward fights Kovalev next year who cares who he fights or doesn't fight until then? You guys say he fights nothing but bums anyway? If the fight doesn't come off I'll be the first one to call him out in it but I think that fight will happen. Ward's whole purpose for going to HBO is the Kovalev fight and both fighters already know this. I couldn't care less that he isn't fighting on the Cotto-Canelo card and neither should anyone here as long as Kovalev-Ward happens.

Like I said before if the Kovalev-Ward fight happens who cares about these tune up type opponents? If he had a fight lined up with a legit fighter like Pascal and pulled something like this then I could see people being mad but he doesn't no one here wanted to see that guy he was supposed to fight on the Cotto-Canelo undercard anyway. People are just looking for a reason to bash Ward despite saying the guy he was fighting was a complete joke and a waste of time. That's the point I'm trying to make.
