When Kellerman asked him if he was surprised by the decision he said No which was clearly untrue as his reaction on camera to the result showed. No respect for the guy.
I think Ward thought it was a close fight and could go either way. That's what it sounded like in the post fight interview. I would react like Ward too knowing how hair thin close the fight was.
Hmmm. Isn't Ward a staunch Christian? I thought his reaction looked a bit suspect, too. However, maybe it was just uncertainty and doubt giving way to genuine relief and joy. It doesn't necessarily mean that Ward believed he had actually lost, just that he knew it was close and he couldn't be sure of the judges himself.
Honestly his reaction was a normal fighter's reaction to getting a nod in a close fight. Just because you celebrate a win doesn't mean you expected the other guy to take it.
Who knows? Tim Bradley seems like a decent chap, too, yet he insisted that he won the first Pacquiao fight. Hardly anyone else saw it that way. Is Bradley a liar? I think he genuinely believed he'd won a close fight.
