Ward is very good but....

Never underestimate a head butt. I had my nose broken by a damned head butt. Ward's referee allowed him to head butt, that was a part of the strategy.

Ward refused to fight in the tournament unless he got "all" of his fights in his home town.

At this point I agree. It is just naive to believe otherwise. That Ward claims he's not a dirty fighter sounds hollow. He got his win over Kessler in a combination of headbutts-holding-fast movement-elbows.

No I'm not implying that. I'm just giving MK the benefit of the doubt. There are some circumstances surrounding the fight that could have made Kessler look better. One of them is the ref warning Ward. Had the ref warned Ward Ward might have had to change his style somewhat, and most likely left MK without the nasty cuts that MK said impaired his vision. At the end of the day MK had a poor showing. Looking forward to watching Dirrell-Ward.

Even if they were all an accident which is unlikely, where were the warning and the point deductions and the eventual DQ or at least the threat of it hanging over his head?

Instead we had Kessler being warned to stop holding Ward when Ward came in to hold and hit.
