Calzaghe was one of the fasted white fighters I've ever seen. Not sure why he gets so much hate on the forum. Oh yeah he is from the UK thats why. How does people say he didn't take hard fights? He had a lot of fights I thought he had a good chance of losing. Wlad is the one taking easy fights

Calzaghe beats Ward prime for prime. I would give todays Calzaghe a chance of beating Ward as well.

It is rather classless of Calzaghe to be talking **** anyway. WTF, is he jealous because Ward is getting the attention now? Joe grow up a little and let someone else get the lime light for a while.
What can one expect from a cocaine addict anyway. **** him.

Best of a bad bunch? Or best of a better bunch than when Calzaghe was around?

A tactical fight which Calzaghe would probably win on points in the UK due to workrate. Calzaghe had all the belts, Ring, WBO, IBF, WBA and WBC. He also had longevity.

Is Froch really that great?, he's lost a few and where is\was his domestic opposition? It's all good fighting the best, he has some great wins, but he has fallen short at the higher levels.

Seeing Golovkin knocking out Bute in the amateurs, was he really that good?

Some fighters can look formidable with devastating knockouts of opponents, others are just really good and can beat and defuse great opponents without looking so spectacular. Mayweather, Calzaghe, Hopkins to name a few.

Calzaghe was 46-0 for a reason.

To be fair Joe was asked the question on The Gloves are Off. Would you expect him to dodge the question? Any boxer backs themselves, retired or not.

Calzaghe made his career from the comfort of his couch.

Speaking of couches, seems like ward spends too much time there himself these days.
As for the fantasy fight, Calzaghe was a class better than Ward ever will be, he would dominate.

I wish Ward would stop wasting his prime away on his own couch.

Calzaghe has better footwork and angles? LOL. Ward has made a CAREER off his footwork and working angles in the ring, that is the basis of many of his super 6 victories. You fail to mention punching accuracy, ring generalship, defense and boxing IQ all of which go to Ward. Ward by WIDE UD, like 9 rounds to 3 type ****

All you need to know about Calzaghe is that he got put on his ass by a version of RJJ that was more reminiscent of a cab driver then of Roy in his prime. Could you see RJJ even giving Ward one SECOND of trouble in the ring? The idea is ridiculous.

...and he recovered from that knock down to give Roy Jones a more one-sided beating than Jones had ever suffered against anyone else, not even Hopkins made Jones look that bad and Jones was more shot against Hopkins than he was against Calzaghe. Jones only won one round in that entire fight and that was due to the knock down that was more of a surprise lucky shot than anything else - and I can say that with complete certainty due to the fact that Jones didn't trouble Calzaghe at all for the rest of the fight.

So how does that show us "all you need to know" about Calzaghe? That he got hit accidentally by a forearm and got knocked down? As if he's the only fighter in history to get put in his ass by a shot he didn't see coming. As if he didn't get up and dominate the rest of the fight. Any fighter can be put on their ass by a lucky shot if it catches them well enough and takes them by surprise so it's hardly ridiculous to assume that it could have happened to Ward in similar circumstances - not that it would but that the probability isn't zero.
