Right you are, except...Ward will beat Kessler WORSE than Calzaghe did. Kessler will panic early and spend the whole fight confused. I commend you all on your effort to break this fight down, and I don't mean to talk trash, but Ward is going to dominate this fight. I'm not saying this for reaction before the fight, but so I can say "I told you so" after the fight. There are several reasons why I say this, but at this point, the fight itself should be self-explanitory for those who will be paying attention and are able to avoid denial. Be sure to quote me November 22nd.

    He will be here...

He doesn't care about Ward - he is just a Kessler hater. And if Kessler wins he will still be here, because there is more to hate. Also, he doesn't really bother with reality, so win or lose as long as Kessler is around he will be here (whether under the name of his US-alter ego: Fanning, his UK alter-ego: Silly-nanny, his German alter-ego: FrankenFrank or his Italian alter-ego: Mariancobretti.

The better a fighter is the more haters they usually have. Ali is one of the most hated fighters in history.

Kessler's sole loss is better than any Ward win.

Yeah, but all Ward has to do is hold, fall down on canvas, complain and run to win. Dirrell fans will demand that he gets points for being on the canvas. Ward appears to be counting on his judges, commentators, referee, hometown to win the fight.

Can't recall any opponent being able to do much holding on Kessler. Maybe bc that haven't been their tactics? Doubt it though over 40+ fights.

So is Ward - pressumably one of Kesslers most skilled opponents to date - gonna be able to use holding to his advantage? Will he want to?

That's why the fight is in Ward's hometown, with his judges, referee, his commentators ( to tell you who is winning the fight)

All the crap about Dirrell makes me want to puke!

The sport is called boxing, punches are supposed to count, not holding, falling down on canvas and complaining. How to win a fight that you lost?

I'm just wondering if Ward will even be able to use holding much to his advantage IF he wants to.

Kessler is usually good at keeping his opponents at distance.

And Ward is better than any Kessler win.

I like Kessler alot, as I like Ward as well...but that comment above echos the underrating Ward is getting on here by the people picking Mikkel. The same though goes for the people picking Ward...Kessler has proven himself against good competition and even fought one of the best fighters of our time very tight (tho clearly lost...was very competative).

This is going to be a close fight. Im picking Ward, mainly because he holds the same clear advantages that Kessler has struggled against in the past (hand and foot speed, lateral movement, athleticism, awkwardness, etc.)...but I am doing so also stating that Kessler is too tough to just "lose". I have said all along that a Kessler win is easily imagined.

I actually think this might end up being the best matchup (not necessarily the best fight) of the tourney. Surprised at the overrating/underrating that is going on in here.

(and btw, to my knowledge, Ward has been insanely respectful of Kessler up to this point and I have never heard him say ANYTHING like what the thread starter is referring to.)

I think that Kessler is not the same fighter that he was a few years back. This is a great opportunity for Ward and he has the skills to win. I'm gonna be rooting for Ward, can't let Kessler come to the Bay and take your 0.

From what I have seen, Kessler looks far better than Ward. I have been comparing both. Kessler has to knock Ward out to get a split decision.

Ward is usually a respectful guy, so I would be disappointed if he was dissing Kessler who is one of the most respectful guys in the game.
