we all know brook/ggg is going to be a pretty big event in the UK....even though its kind of stupid....it will still be well received

i think ward/kova will do well here in the states and be well received...and of course thats a diehards dream and will have the full respect of anyone from fan to scribe

so recently sanchez has stated he thinks ward/ggg will happen in the future

lets assume they tried to make this fight in 2017.....and that neither man has had a serious fight between their current matchups and a 2017 clash

does a win over kovalev put ward in a position of power at the bargaining table? or at least on completely even terms?

sanchez seemed pretty confident it will happen at some point....but assuming both are still unbeaten(and ggg hasnt fought canelo)...who would hold the bargaining position?

ward would be unlikely trying to go back down to 168....and i dunno if ggg would be willing to go full 175....which makes a CW the likely scenario.....but who would be in position to really make the call?

id probably have to say ward....although i think at that point hed be brimming with such confidence that dropping a few lbs would not hinder him from making the fight

I honestly used to like Ward until I sig Ed up to this forum. Now I want to see Kovalev take his head off so you finally got off the edge.

    abbreviated version:

ward and ggg both win....try to make a fight in 2017 and dont have any big fights in between.....who has bargaining power? what do the positions at the bargaining table looking like?

Well to be fair we would have to see how each performs in their upcoming bouts that would have a big influence. If both perform on par I would have to lean towards Ward having the bargaining power, better resume, longer championship tenure. Of course one could argue GGG brings a less complicated approach to a fight thus luring in more of the casuals.

Interestingly enough I had this conversation with a buddy the other day we did a compare and contrast with poker and how espn loves showing the edited highlighted version that lures in your recreational players, though the hardcore pro's only find value and entertainment in the live streamed versions that give accounts of every hand. The ****ogy here is Ward being the live streamed poker event and GGG seemingly being the ESPN highlights.

    great response...and great ****ogy....truly

i agree that performances prob could play some hand in it....at the same time i also think you have to take into account that golovkin is bringing up a largely untested welter...and ward is fighting a top 5 p4p unbeaten champ with a pretty good resume.....

but i agree...all things relatively even id lean ward....which could make it very tough...because like i said....its likely theyd have to find a common ground catchweight.....but i do feel that ward would be more willing to move on it because hed want to make the fight and be brimming with confidence should he beat kovalev
