Ward - Kovalev II does about 130k ppv buys

Great job would GGG actually being a PPV star. We are talking about cracking that 300k.
But GGG does sell a lot of tickets and he is HBOs hottest ticket.

 

In short:

Roc just took a bath. Ward's guarantee alone needed ~200k plus buys to cover.

Kovalev didn't make jack.

Ward got a king's ransom.

Duva gets peanuts.

 

No , thats Canelo. GGG has been waiting years for that Canelo pay day.

 

Hearn means if he was the promoter for it in the States he could have got the numbers up to 300k there. GGG vs Canelo isn't going to do big numbers in the UK, so I don't think he's wrong.

 

Can't expect much with how boring Ward is. No one mentions it but he held like crazy in this second fight.

 

Ward is not a draw, even against Dawson, another lineal American champ he could only muster little over 1 million views on HBO.

 

And how exactly would he do that? What could he do that HBO , ME and RN couldn't? Hearn is a great promoter over here but its a different market out there. HBO cut back the budget on boxing and the fight doesn't appeal to the casual market so there's nothing he could do.

I should have clarified, Golovkins is HBO's best free meal ticket. Golovkin does good ratings.

Doesn't show anything. All these numbers are unconfirmed. Didn't GGG only do 97K by some idiot's tweet? Seems like trolls here make up numbers and everyone believes them. ANYONE can post on social media. GGG, Kov and Ward are not big draws any way you slice it. It's just another fanboy tactic to fabricate numbers to discredit a fighter.

 

I assumed Golovkin-Lemieux did 170k. Sorry if I gave that impression, but I'm not a GGG fan, and I very much respect Ward as a boxer. I just was trying to adamantly make the point that neither Ward or Kovalev are big sellers, and this shouldn't have been on ppv. And that Golovkin whatever you think of him and even if he's no massive ppv draw on his own... is sure bigger than Ward or Kovalev.

 

Oh and you were wrong. GGG's ppv in a much less significant match did 150k, way more than 97k. It's you that seems to be making up numbers and seems like a fan boy. I have my preferences as far as boxers, but I would never be more or less a fan of a boxer if he makes more or less money. Just pointing out the obvious stupidity and damage to boxing when boxers or their handlers think they're greater sellers than they are. Which both Roc Nation and Duva should be accused of in making this ppv and how they sold it. PPV just obviously needs to go. Arum even has Pac on regular US TV now.

It was like the Salido/Loma fight except Ward played the part of both; the low-blower and hugger.

 

Some people still pay for those PPV's? Amazing!

 

The question is what is it about Kov that causes this predatory success. Too trusting? On the other hand, humans don't need much of a reason to be predatory when money is involved.
