That was pretty bad. Ward did well to come back and make the fight competitive, but he lost, and lost clearly.

I had it closer - Kov by two at the end of the fight but i thought the judges would go the other way and was unfortunately right.

What do we have to do - adopt those bando martial art rules where there is no winner unless there is a knockout or TKO?:BangHead:

Kovelev won this fight clearly and got robbed blind and anybody that thinks otherwise is an idiot of the highest order.

People remember Holyfield-Lewis 1 as a huge robbery, and technically it was. Certainly an injustice.
But Lewis didn't lose his belts, and didn't get an "L" on his record, and he gained a significant following. He came out of the fight more a champion than he went in.

Kovalev has lost his title, been given his first official LOSS, had his titles taken away and gifted to America's "best boxer" on American soil. Arguably that's a bigger robbery.

Problem with American fight fans is they have a hard time giving credit to foreigners, even in victory. For the average Joe Schmoe in the States anything not made in America is garbage by default, because "you know dude, the USA is superior and stuff". When I read "Get over it, Kovalev was schooled" it kind of turns my stomach.

You have to admit our cognitive biased plays a huge role when judging theses sort of fights I had it 7 rounds to 5 for Ward watched it twice once more this morning though if Kova had gotten the nod I wouldn't be up in arms and I would have kept some money since I lost a personal bet smh

I watched the fight admittedly a little buzzed and thought it was a close affair, despite being American I thought Kova would be too much after the second rd I turned to my girl and said "Yo the Russian might knock em out" but after the knockdown from what I saw Ward turned the whole fight around. A draw or 7-5 either way is a cool score I think you could have it wider for Kovalev depending on how you score some close rds, a 2/3 point Krusher win or a 1 point Ward win are all acceptable scores.

People have to think if you swing a whole rd off one shot or one moment everyone doesn't do that some look at the rd in total, so things like that can create differences. if Ward won the fight 116-112 or something like that then it would be a robbery. But Ward or Kova winning a razor close fight in the scores isn't a robbery it's a close fight everything is subjective neither guy dominated both showed top quality class in a fight like this it's a shame any guy had to lose.

To get 114-113 you had to give Ward all, or all but one, of the close rounds.

He got a lucky gift, but it wasn't a robbery like some of the ones quoted in this thread.
