Stylistically, I meant. Chilemba prepared Kovalev more than Brand prepared Ward.

No, he's a can. One of the worst boxers I have ever seen. Almost Edward Rackley bad.

Brand would throw a punch from left field and fall down on the canvas..............what a joke.................Chilemba would have stopped Brand. Wrong opponent to prepard for Kovalev. Ward did not look fast at all, even Brand could land on Ward, when Kovalev lands on Ward Ward will fall................

We're talking a cab driver with the payday of his life at 30K bucks. And instead Kov would freeze in his tracks?

I didn't expect a 1 punch KO , but i did expect Ward to dominate with combinations and pressure , not jabbing the body for 12 rounds .... he should've stopped him not via 1 punch but accumulation of damage throughout 12 ..... he wasn't even close to that which is why ppl are disappointed , no one thought he can 1 punch KO anyone but this was boring as hell to watch even @replay when i fast forwarded the breaks....

Bellew, Lepikhin, Vlasov, Ooshuizen and Ngumbo probably would too. (That's most of Chilemba's best wins or draw for those who don't know.) Mohammedi and Karpency would probably beat his ass as well.

There may be other fighters out there who would have stopped Brand, but that does not mean that they are better than Ward or that Kovalev is going so beat Ward. Ward has never been a KO fighter. He outclasses and frustrates opponents to get his points win. Some may find this boring, but fans excitement levels have no impact on victory or defeat.

Obviously the long lay off and fighting sub par opposition has had an effect on Ward, but, if you look at the Smith, Barrera and Brand fight, Ward is getting his sharpness back. I do feel that he is a bit more flat footed than in his hey day, which could be down to age or maybe it is just the level of opposition and he will be more fleet of foot against Kovalev because he will have to be. He also seems a bit more cautious of late, but this could be deliberate as this is the way he will have to fight against Kovalev. Also, Brand is awkward which can effect a fighter and make them less adventurous.

People seem to be viewing Ward's lack of KO of Brand as their main reason why Kovaelev beats Ward. This really isn't the most pertinant aspect of this fight and it was never going to be. This fight, as with his other tune ups, is about how Andre's speed, sharpness, reactions and timing is as these are the attributes he will need to beat Kovalev.

These wannabe aficianados who are saying Ward will be the general
in the fight against KOvalev are the ones who really DKSAB. KOvalev
isn't a slow come forward plodder loading up on big shots. He throws
fast down the middle shots with either hand up and down, and his feet
are the only thing slower than Ward's and only by a little. Ward WILL
get hit by Kovalev and often enough to get hurt, and if Andre thinks he can get inside when the outside gets to hot and bully KOvalev he's
going to get a cold surprise. KOvalev by all accounts has a workrate and great enough conditioning to get rid of Dre in 10 rounds.
I'll make a more official pick a couple of weeks before the fight but from what I saw of the tenative performance from Ward last night I'm predicting a 10 round TKO from KOvalev.
