Are you talking about the US bookmakers? It is sometimes very profitable to bet against an American.

Not sure I will bet against Ward, though.

Bumping this article in anticipation of the Super Six semi-final tomorrow night between Froch and Johnson.

Hard to argue that it wouldn't serve the Super Six and Ward best if it is Froch staring across at him in the finale.

It wont serve Ward too well when Froch smashes his face in for 12 rounds :conf

The people who think Ward's style is boring are the same people who think Mayweather and Hopkin's styles are boring. They also do not understand boxing, or understand what is unfolding in front of their eyes, and are not true boxing fans.

Who's style is more boring, Abraham's or Ward's? Ward flawlessly held target practice on Abraham's dome for 12 rounds. Abraham stood around looking like a clumsy fool, taking repeated shots while landing none in return for 12 rounds. One is an athlete, the other can't spell athlete. One is fast, one is slow. One is versatile and can change and adapt, the other couldn't change up if the world depended on it.

Ward, boring? I think not. It's called the "Sweet Science"! If you find boxing boring, explain it to ballet fans, not boxing fans.

To make the s6 a succes froch should win it, he would be rewarded for his tough route, ward would be the boring fighter that took the easy route at home and won.

people always say that, if you think a guy is boring you dislike boxing and only like brawls and should watch mma or something.
Ward is boring but effective, his results eventually matter but the way its achieved matters as well. People care more for exciting fighters then safety first guys that outpoint but never ko anyone. same way that wlad is boring, is he a bad boxer? no way and he has a good resume but you cant say you enjoyed wlad vs ibragimov because its the sweet science. hopkins trinidad is sweet science:p

Fair enough. Perhaps you'd like to see Ward take more risks. I can accept that.

And Hopkins-Trinidad is one of my all time favorites. There's never a wrong time to bring that one up.

Ward's marketability problem is related to his lack of power, not his competition. It's pretty clear now that Ward is the most complete and proven fighter at 168 lbs, but he's just not a puncher. He throws hard enough to gain the respect of his opponents so they don't want to get too crazy against him but he simply can't generate excitement in his wins.

If Froch gets past Johnson, Ward will likely counter-punch him to death in the Final, win comfortably, but do so in a manner that thrills no one.

I actually like Ward (minus the headbuts) and Froch (mins the rabbit punches) style wise. And i think many many people here are going to be shocked how close and rough the final will be if froch makes it there. The attitudes and styles of both ensure it will not be an easy or lopsided victory to either.

If this fight is in New York with Neutral ref's and judges like Hopkins-Pascal anything is possible.....

As much as I like Froch, ward has to much natural talent for him. Ward simply has to start fighting a more interesting style though if he wants to go down as a great with the people. None of this annoying wrestling **** .

I'm sure Ward would agree with you. If true, it is because Froch has the intellect to adjust and adapt to Ward the best his physical abilities will allow, unlike Abraham.

I think Ward should keep doing exactly what he's doing. The excitement is inevitable once the competition steps their game up. I blame the lack of excitement on Kessler, Green, Bika and Abraham, not Ward. Ward shows up to fight, his opponents are nowhere to be found come fight night.

Ward had Green and Miranda fighting to make it the distance. I thought if either one of them had opened up a bit more in the second half of the fight, Ward would have stopped him.

Ward has deceptive power, he puts guys in a position where they don't fight their gameplan because he is offering up enough power to keep them from doing so. After four rounds I thought for sure Allan Green was going to be stopped but he went into survival mode just to make it the distance. At the top of the sport people are looking to go the distance rather than take chances and be knocked out when behind 6 or 7 rounds.
