What is going on with Ward. He fights less than once a year. He has had 2 fights in the last 3 years and hasnt fought for a year. Is he injured or something ?

He is scared to death. He knows he cleaned his division and people will ask him to move up to face Kovalev. So, instead, he decided to retire.

It's sad to watch. Ward had everything in front of him after the super six but it seems he's thrown it all away.

Kovalev has three belts and is clearly "the man" at the moment.

Ward-Kovalev is perfect. Ward beat the last man who defeated Hopkins (Dawson). Now he can beat another man who defeated Hopkins, and win 3 belts in the process. And come back on the scene with a vengeance.

I respect Ward as a fighter, but I don't know who is giving him advice.

WHAT!? Ward is the best boxer out of those 3, he's the quickest, most technically sound of the bunch and I like GGG better than him but can't dispute ward is a superior fighter. Both Kov and GGG still have yet to face PRIME, elite competition.

Hopkins did nothing, only thing this fight can tell us about Kov is that he can stick to a gameplan (except in the 12th where he went ape**** :D )

It would be huge for his legacy, the best win he could have, Ward would beat GGG easy, Kovalev on the other hand is huge test.

I think Hopkins hits harder than Ward, quite a bit harder. Expect Ward to question Sergey's level of opposition and claim that he has no interest in fighting yet at 175 when he's next questioned about it.

Hagler has 67 bouts.atleast we have the privilege to see him in the ring.

I would like to first see Ward even in the ring.and you also somewhar answered to your question already.only 8 divisions meant that the divisions were more packed=more talent in one weightclass.

Now we have weighclass for every pound almost=talent is more spreaded around

And BTW. Ward won olympics at LHW.

Of course he can stay on his division, but it would be nice to see him actually fighting there someday.last credible opponent was 2yrs ago(corpse of Dawson) we have to go almost 3yrs backwards when Ward did something meaningful in his division.i appreciate Ward skills, but he needs to get in the ring and soon.
